The World Series As Told By Hannah Montana

Before I begin, let me just give you a fair warning... I am a huge Cubs fan and may have shed a few tears during the game (both out of stress and happiness). I could sit here and try to describe the series of emotions I felt during the game, but then I thought to myself, I feel like Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana would do a way better job, so here we go.

When you think that all your friends are Cubs fans, but they decide to root for the Indians because "...but we go to college in Ohio".

When someone tells you to stop singing the “Go Cubs Go” song, sorry nope, not happening.

Indians fans on one side of the bar, Cubs fans on the other side. It’s a complete split and each side is yelling towards the other. I mean when you go to a school in Ohio, where a huge percentage of the student body is from Chicago, this is bound to happen.

The feeling when the Cubs start off the game with a HUGE lead over the Indians.

“I know it’s only the third inning but I feel like the Cubs are basically World Series Champs already, theres no way the Indians will be able to catch up”.

Wait, I take that back. Excuse me while I cry as I accept the fact that the Indians are catching up to the Cubs.

Realizing that the Cubs and Indians are tied 6-6, no part of me is ok with this, I am in full panic mode at this point.

When an Indians fan comes up to you at the bar and tells you that you might as well take your Cubs hat off now… “go on”.

When Indians fans get annoyed at the Cubs fans for singing “Go Cubs Go”, but continue to chant “Let’s Go Tribe”.

A RAIN DELAY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Okay, first off it’s a Wednesday, my hands are sweaty from all the nerves, I can barely breathe, and you’re telling me you're delaying the game?

Deciding to go back to your dorm to finish the game, but stopping for a quick trip to Jimmy John’s before you get back, “ya know just casually eating away my nerves”.

Realizing that it’s the 10th inning due to overtime right as you get to your dorm building, so you sprint to your room to put on the TV. Honestly, sprinting to catch the last inning of this game is probably the fastest I have ever run.

Making everyone be quiet as you prepare yourself for the final minutes of the game. The Cubs are up 2 points, my eyes are fully locked to the screen, my heart is pounding, and then…

“THE CUBS WIN THE WORLD SERIES”, I casually hyperventilate, cry, scream, sing, call my parents, pretty much every form of excitement. After 108 years, the Cubs have finally won the World Series and the Curse of the Billy Goat is no more.

I am so proud to be from the most amazing city and couldn’t have been more proud of the Cubs. Way to go boys, Fly that W loud and proud because “this is the life, hold on tight” -Hannah Montana.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?
