To The Woman Who Never Left My Side, You're My Lifelong Friend

When it feels like I'm going to war with the world, you're the one soldier standing behind me.

You're the strawberry to my wine.

You're the band to my aid.

You're the shells to my cheese.

You're the sun to my shine.

& You're the best to my friend.

For 21 years now, you've been standing right by my side. You've seen all angles of my worst and all views of my best. You've supported me and criticized me and made me who I am today. So, thank you. Thank you for making my lunch everyday in grade school, for driving me 30 minutes to and from school for years. Thank you for always reassuring me that my headaches don't mean I have brain cancer, or that just because my left arm hurts doesn't mean I'm having a heart attack. Thank you for always putting me first, and letting me learn lessons on my own. Thank you for giving me the option to choose what makes me happy. Thank you for answering my face-times every time I'm at the store trying to find a certain spice, or when I need to know the certain things I shouldn't buy the generic brand of. Thank you for keeping me sane when all hell breaks lose and all I wan't to do is hide away. Thank you for reminding me that a cup of buffalo sauce isn't worth my temper.

Thank you for loving me and supporting me no matter how hard it has been. Thank you for (sometimes) letting me think that the world actually does revolve around me, but then reminding me it doesn't during the times I really need it.

And finally, MOM, thanks for being my best friend. And when it feels like the whole wide world is against me...

You're the sunshine after a storm.

You're the ibuprofen after a hangover.

You're the glue after a heartbreak.

You're the realization that I am someone and I mean something, after crying over feeling like a no one that means nothing.

& You're the best to my friend.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
