A Letter To The Woman Who Has Given Her All

All the things you've thought about your Mom but never had the chance to tell her.

A Letter To The Woman Who Has Given Her All

My earliest memory of you is singing to me “ You are my Sunshine” so I could fall asleep only to run into your room hours later because I had woke up and the darkness of my room scared me. From that point on, you have become such an intricate part of my life; I don’t know how I would function without you. You are the person I call when I have something to say, when I have nothing going on, or when I just want to hear your voice. I mean every word when I say I would be lost without you.

I often hear from people that have seen us interact or have met you that I am exactly like you and I’m sure Daddy would agree. Whether it be our headstrong nature, our love of shoes, or our pension for watching TV for hours if we get a chance we really are alike. I see myself doing things I have seen you do over the years such as wrapping any drink I get in a napkin to keep it from sweating or the angry temper that appears when we drive. These are merely the things I have picked up unconsciously growing up but there are traits I can only count my miracles that I was lucky enough to pick up from you.

You have always been the woman that stands up for herself even if she is wrong. No matter who is talking to you, you never back down even if it is the CEO of a company. Your stubborn nature is a true feat of God and is enough to make anyone scream which I’ve seen Daddy come close to a few times. You are ever resilient in the face of whatever comes your way even if the odds look impossible. If I am even anywhere near able to pick up these from you, I will be a lucky woman.

Over the years I have watched you work your fingers to the bone at job after job, just to make ends meat and to make sure I can have all that I’ve ever wanted. You have given me every luxury I ever wanted even when I didn’t deserve it. I watched year after year as you struggled to pay for a private school so that I could have the best opportunities and I would come home complaining that I hated it. I say this with every sense of the word that you are a saint for dealing with everything you have dealt with and continue to do.

In my last words I’ll say this, you are the strongest and most amazing woman I have ever had the fortune of knowing. You amaze me every day with all that you do and all that you can take on. You make me proud day after day that I am your daughter.

If I can be half the incredible woman that you are, that will be more than enough.

I love you Mama.

So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
