Moon, Moon,
why are we so drawn to you?
We have yet to understand
what it is about your luminescent glow
that has us hypnotized
like those mindless doe
getting trampled by that blinding roar
as they cross a strange divide
where no trees reside
only to die
much to our delight
Why that blinding roar decides to leave
without a trace
we’ll never understand
not even a single bite
from that twitching corpse
before it disappears
into a forbidden land
Now we feast
under the hallow light of stars
keeping a weather eye on the horizon
for another roaring beast
as our God begins to rise in the east
we cry for her magnificence
an echoing reminder
that this land is ours
