What is the meaning of life?
I asked,
of the withered, old
Willow Tree.
The answer received
was a sigh,
in a breeze,
and a single, fallen leaf.
I touched the leaf,
trying to know what it means.
I felt its rough bark,
and gnarled roots under my feet.
I lifted the message,
a life rather small,
and the vibrant green leaf
told me it all.
The veins running from
the tip to the stem
carried nutrients
the Willow provided for him.
The lean, slender leaf
with its soft, untouched beauty
showed that the rugged old bark
had served its protective duty.
And from then on
I knew.
what was the
Meaning of Life:
I would act as the Willow
and heal the world
by providing a life
for one green leaf at a time.
