Despite Having One Of The Best Selling Albums Of 2020, The Weeknd Has Been Snubbed By The Grammys

On Tuesday morning, the Grammys released its nominations for its 63rd annual show. Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch and Beyoncé dominated the most popular nominations.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd has had an astonishing 2020. "Blinding Lights" broke the record for the most weeks spent atop Billboard's all-format Radio Songs airplay chart with 19 weeks at number 1. His album "After Hours" spent four weeks at number 1, with all 14 songs landing in the Billboard top 100. In its first week, "After Hours" accumulated 221 million streams and 441,000 sales in the United States. He even announced he will be performing at Superbowl LV in 2021. After Hours was nominated for multiple American Music Awards and a People's Choice Award.

However, The Weeknd shockingly has zero Grammy nominations.

Evidently, The Weeknd was snubbed. His fans have already sounded off on Twitter, with The Weeknd's government name, "Abel", trending worldwide on the app. He deserved to be nominated for Album of the Year with "After Hours" and Record of the Year with "Blinding Lights". Unfortunately, he is not the only well-deserving artist to be ignored by the Grammys this year.

Despite women like Kehlani, Jhene Aiko, and Teyana Taylor releasing critically acclaimed R&B albums this year, the nominees for Best R&B Album were all men. Yes, in 2020, there are zero women nominated for Best R&B album. This is especially confusing because Jhene Aiko's "Chilombo" was nominated for Album of the Year. Why did they disclude her for Best R&B Album? Teyana Taylor seemingly responded in a tweet:

"Fine Line" by Harry Styles and "SAWAYAMA" by Rina Sawayama were also fan favorites for Album of the Year, despite being snubbed for the category. Both albums pushed the limits and expectations of pop, yet both have sadly been disregarded.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
