The Week Before Thanksgiving Break As Told By "Full House"

Thanksgiving break is one of the best things. It's a time for college students to go home, see friends that we haven't seen since summer, spend time with family, eat great food, watch Netflix and just relax. Personally, I am excited to be able to sleep in and not have to stress about any exams or papers due. I am excited to sleep in my own bed, wake up with my puppy next to me, have my family around me and so much more. We have to wait a week, though, before all these amazing things happen. Here is the week before Thanksgiving break at college as told by the cast of "Full House":

1. When you realize that Thanksgiving break is less than a week away.

It's almost time to go home! This break has been anticipated since the beginning of the semester and now it's almost here! The time has finally come! Time for sleep! Time for real food! Time for friends and family!

2. But then you realize you have one more week left before you can leave.

So close, yet so far. One more week of stress, papers and exams to worry about. Just think: you have made it this far, what is a few more days going to do? These next few days are going to seem like torture, but the best is yet to come.

3. When none of your classes get cancelled the two days before break.

Your professors haven't cancelled a class all semester, but they still won't cancel the last class before break. Now, you can't go home a few days early and have to deal with the stress a couple days more.

4. When your classes do get cancelled.

You didn't think this would happen, but it did! It's a Thanksgiving miracle. You get to leave a few days early, which allows you a few extra days at home. Three days may not seem like a lot, but time home is a treasure.

5. Packing to go home.

What to pack? Packing to go home is a very weird feeling. Home is usually where all your clothes are, but now you actually need to pack in order to have clothes to wear at home. Packing can be especially challenging when you forget what clothes you actually have at home. You don't want to overpack, but you also don't want to run out of outfits when you are home.

Thanksgiving break is something to be truly thankful for. College makes you realize the importance of your friends and family, and now you get to spend quality time with them. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for everything you have and a time to reflect on all that you have. What are you thankful for this year? I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and get to spend time with the people you love. Happy Thanksgiving!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
