As an avid reader and a lover of the "Walking Dead," I knew that I had to read the comics.
I started watching the show around the time that the third season was out, and I loved it from the moment that I started watching, and ended up watching all the episodes on Netflix over my break. Then I found out there were comics, too, and I knew that I had to read them. And I honestly loved the villains that I read about in the comics and watched on the TV show.
The comics are actually pretty different from the the show, which might be shocking to some. The show doesn't really follow who lives and dies in the comics, which is actually pretty refreshing. The one thing that I am a little disappointed about was Negan though. He was the most anticipated villain of the comics aside from the Governor, and you just don't get the same feel that you do in the comics as with the TV show. For starters the Governor was totally ruthless and had no remorse for anything that he did, which is why he was going off the deep end when we met him in the comics. He does many unspeakable things in the comics to Michonne, and even cuts Rick's arm off. Which is something we will never see in the show. He even had people cut up to feed zombies, if they weren't apart of their group.
Then you have Negan. Now Negan is worse than the Governor, and I haven't even read all the comics with him in them. I've read a select few and in the few that I've read, I knew he was bad news. Every other word out of his mouth is the "F word," and he will take everything that you own, even your wife, as his own. He is so scary because you really don't know what he's capable of. I think that in the TV they weren't able to capture the fact that he's this total bada** who swears all the time and is so scary. While Jeffery Dean Morgan is scary, it just wasn't the same without the swearing. Which is something that I'm sure we'll see in the DVD when it comes out. But overall, Negan is totally my favorite villain and might be my favorite character out of everyone!
The comic books in themselves are so well written. At the end of the month I always look forward to seeing what Robert Kirkman and his team have come up with. The villains that he's able to conjure up are amazing. And the fact that he can make so many well-liked villains is just crazy to me. And I think that they always do a very great job casting these people, because having these villains come to real life is something that is amazing.
