While just like any other social media, the VSCO app is addicting and taking over, there are many reasons why VSCO is by far the most specifically love-based social media platform.

I'm not saying I don't enjoy social media, however, since just like most girls my age my VSCO link is in my Instagram bio and covered in DISCOS (little video clips) of golden retriever puppies licking babies and quotes about love, and the future, and boys... well a boy. But I was so intrigued scrolling through VSCO this past week. It just hit me.

How is it that we have a social media that engulfs almost entirely the female population with no likes or shares or knowing how many people follow you? How incredible is it that we have this platform to post honestly whatever we want and not feel as though we are being judged?

Many people are very open-minded about what they post on VSCO because for some reason we see it as a private shield that adults and employers can't see. Yet at the same time, we post the link in our Instagram bios and flaunt it. I'm not sure I completely understand why we do this, and even though I do it myself, I find it very odd.

I guess in a way its like computer stickers. We plaster our laptops with stickers that we feel describe us, our college and favorite activities. The minute you sit across from someone in a study room, you instantly have a glimpse into their lives and personalities without even talking to them.

This is similar to having our VSCO on our Instagram bios. Even if our Instagram is on private, anyone who comes across our profile can get a glimpse into our life. They can see if you have a boyfriend, if you just went through a breakup, if you love the beach, or what our friends look like. We live in a society now where these things are normal, and it is not weird to know parts of a person without ever interacting with them.

For adults, it may seem weird, but for millennials, this is the only way we know how to interact and communicate with each other. It is also a safe space for when to show their true emotions and feelings. For whatever reason VSCO has created this safe space where you can post 100 pictures in a row of whatever you want and people will scroll through and look at them. It isn't really about flaunting your life and your day to day activities like Facebook and Instagram. It is more of an individual based social media. You post what you want when you want to and however much of it you want.

The beauty and uniqueness of VSCO are that of freedom of expression and a judgment-free zone. It is one of the most refreshing social media emotionally.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
