The Visionaries of the New Generation

why we're so damn groovy

When it comes to visual arts, there is never two of the same kind or similarities; everything and everyone delivers in a gifted way. Our generation of young adults have stepped over everyone and shown them exactly how talented and intellectual we can be despite those who dislike how we operate and act. Today's generation are super bad-asses and we love to start new trends. If you're on social media (specifically Instagram & Tumblr) you'll notice overtime how much we continue to bring to the plate, whether it's through music, art, photography, drawing, or even spoken word and poetry. I'd like to say from my perspective that our generation of young visionaries are a separate community to an extent. Yes, some may be young and still living with their parents, but there's plenty who are on their own. With that being said one place we can all come together and unite is through social media.

For the older generation who was brought up on a specific platform, we are their children, but many think that since we were raised by our parents who were influenced by their parents, we're told specifically how to conduct ourselves in ways to please them. That's one aspect where we come in and change the status of that. Our views may seem crazy and impossible but what if? What if the adults would stop trying to force us to present a certain image of ourselves, especially if the image is something that we don't like or want to portray for others to see. What if ? What if we continue to change the status quo and see overtime how we can act & do, not according to our parents or adult figures, but for ourselves. There are many adults who may insist that it would lead to nothing but destruction & mayhem but there are still many young adults like myself who don't do any literal crazy things but should be able to do what we want to do without any questioning or negative comments. There will be a time where we permanently change the status of how we grow up and make the world actually see what's going on. I'd like to think that we are the ones to successfully do this and dominate the arts culture like no other has. In today's time, we are getting young visionaries (literally some young ones) as young as 14 year old celebrity Rowan Blanchard. The lover of Harry Potter, chocolates, and Beyoncé shows us on her Instagram just how visually inclined she is. Along with Willow Smith and many others, they are the few celebrities within our visionary circle that continue to describe to the world exactly who we are. The only person who knows yourself better than your parents is yourself. If you're a poet, misfit, a dreamer or a schemer, don't change. If you're a rebel, a lover, a doer, or a thinker, don't change. There will come a time that we will not be looked at any longer as crazy or different. Be patient my dreamers, our time is coming.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
