After countless conversations with multiple friends, I realized that the value of our lives lies in the priorities we set.

Take a second and think real hard about the things you prioritize. For some, their social life is at the top of their hierarchy of needs. For others, it lies way at the bottom. However, the thing that almost everyone seems to forget is that our priorities are constantly changing, and more importantly, we make them.

Throughout my conversations with friends, I have realized that a lot of the reasons the problems in their lives keep resurfacing is because they are not prioritizing what is right for them at that very moment. For example, say parties and social life was at the very tip-top, and now, all of a sudden, you find yourself lacking in the other things in your life. If you see that happening, then it is most likely time to re-evaluate your life and change your priorities.

Most people cannot balance all aspects of their life evenly. I know that I definitely can't. I find myself continuously having to re-evaluate and adjust things. But honestly, that is just a part of life.

The important thing to remember is that the only things that matter in life are the things that you DECIDE to put value.

Now, think about the things that matter to you. Are they going to matter in a year from now? Are they adding any significance to life, making it any better than it was before? If not, THEN CHUCK IT. There should be no option to prioritize anything negative in your life.

Once you've accepted that you and your time are way too precious to waste, you start to get rid of the things that only bring you sorrow. Life becomes so much better to live.

I hope that for everyone reading this, they understand the power we hold in our hands. If it feels like the water is getting way too deep, recognize that you can swim the other way. Prioritize whatever brings you peace; mentally, physically and emotionally. You have the power to transform your life; just take a step back and breathe.

Look at things from another point of view. If you've tried things over and over again and it still does not get better, then turn it all upside down and try it that way.

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.

I am without a doubt one of those people who refuses to start decorating for Christmas or listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving has become an underrated holiday over the years. You barely see any Thanksgiving decorations in stores; it's like they skip right from Halloween to Christmas.

Some universities only get two or three days off for Thanksgiving break. Or, if your university is like mine, you get the whole week off go go home. A whole week off is a long time. I'm not complaining, because I'd rather have a whole week off than three days, but there is a lot of down time. Here are some ideas as to what you can do to get the most out of your Thanksgiving break.
