It is in our nature to give whatever we choose to do a meaning or a value. We hold on to the things we deem worth our time, and let go of the things that are worthless. This is one of our race’s most crucial mistakes as humans. One will gain a wider view on life if this notion of giving value to everything is abandoned.
The idea of not valuing one’s belongings and whatever one holds dear has been controversial for so long seeing as it “dehumanizes” oneself from a specific perspective so to speak. Contrarily, it spaces up one’s mind and allows oneself to focus on new aspects of life that haven’t been thoroughly thought through. Taking art as an example, if one creates an art piece, then one will most definitely give it some value albeit at times subconsciously. Yet as soon as the art piece is complete, its value must be nulled in order to open up new spaces and paths for one’s mind to occupy with new ideas.
Freeing oneself of pain and anxiety will lead to carefree thinking, and that can be made possible through not giving, what one would usually hold dear, any meaning. The mind will be able to soar through new modes of thought and possibly discover new dimensions to one’s soul. One will gradually learn more about oneself through this process, as there are many advantages to adopting this school of thought.
If one is finding great difficulty in detaching oneself from an entity, whatever it may be, then it will be obvious that it is one of the most important entities in one’s life. This process will allow oneself to classify the aspects of one’s life by importance more clearly. This will leave some aspects as visibly and crucially important to one’s life, and these are the only things that one should keep close.
Adopting this idea will essentially motivate oneself, because one will eventually realize the available capacity that can be put to much greater use than being wasted on worldly shallow pleasures.
