Gamecocks know how to have a good time. There is always something to do at the University of South Carolina’s campus. Whether it’s student-run events or just passing entertainment, the campus is always poppin’. Challenge yourself to complete this updated bucket list this semester, in the next year, or by the time you graduate. Here’s a health, Carolina, forever to thee!

  • Jam out to Wagon Wheel in your car while through the streets of Cola.
  • Eno in the Horseshoe.
  • Watch the sunset on top of Gambrell Hall.
  • Drive past the beautiful William Brice Stadium at night to see it in its glory.
  • Stay at Memorial Lot from the first tent up to the last tent down.
  • Go to T Coop for no reason in the middle of the night with some friends.
  • Attend at least one event of every sport.
  • Start a USC cheer during a sporting event.
  • Survive a Cola natural disaster.
  • Start a beat in the clapping circle.
  • Keep on your feet with Cola’s news. Karlie Kloss and Migos stopped by last year.
  • Meet some friends at Strom for a workout. Even take a workout class or two, you will feel the burn.
  • After the workout get some of the Carolina heat at Strom’s pool.
  • Show off to all your friends at home your sun-kissed skin courtesy of the famously hot Columbia.
  • Be as lit as Gamecock Jesus at a game.
  • Pro tip- Eat fried Oreos at the State Fair
  • Speaking of food, Southern comfort food is always the move. Go to Palmetto Pig and Pawley’s for a cultural and spiritual awakening.
  • People watch in the Horseshoe while eating a picnic.
  • Take a self-guided ghost tour to Desaussure College.
  • Sing karaoke at Saloon.
  • Dance your heart out at Cotton Gin.
  • Barhop through all the bars in Five Points 'till last call.
  • Go to Eddie Calzone’s after for a late night treat.
  • Dollar tacos isn’t a bad idea, either.
  • Stop by the Soda City market on Main Street on a Saturday morning.
  • USC has our own Farmer’s Market too on Greene Street.
  • Jam out like no one is watching during Hip Hop Wednesday.
  • (This can be your practice for Dance Marathon.)
  • Stop by Russell for Chicken Finger Wednesday too.
  • Cheer on a skateboarder when they do a cool trick on their skateboard.
  • Check your mailbox in Russell, even if you aren’t expecting anything.
  • Send mail to a student’s random mailbox at USC.
  • Sit by someone that looks like they need some company and start talking. See where the conversation takes you.
  • Join a club you would never join last year or the year before that. It will become a great story.
  • Visit the Christmas tree in the Horseshoe during the holidays.
  • Also, stop by the State House to see the Christmas tree.
  • Go to Vista Lights to get in the holiday mood.
  • There is also Boo at the Zoo, where there are lights placed around Riverbank Zoo. What can I say? Cola is always lit.
  • Meet a study abroad student and become their friend. Show them the ropes and course of Cola.
  • Try to study abroad one semester too. Spread the word you go to the greatest campus.
  • St. Patty’s Day Festival. Need I say more?
  • Jam out at a concert at Music Farm. There are always bands passing by. Go to even a band you have never heard of and learn all of their songs.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
