The Unofficial Guide To Drinking Around The World In Epcot

One does not simply go to Disney World and not dream about drinking around the world.

If you are a Disney enthusiast like myself, then drinking around the world has been on your bucket list since you were at least 16. Epcot always seemed boring as a kid, but once you turn 21, it's a magical land filled with thrill rides, world culture, and above all else-- alcohol. I have been fortunate enough to drink around the world in Epcot twice and both were incredible experiences.

I learned the hard way to pace yourself. My first time drinking around the world was on Spring Break with my friends and we went way too hard, way too fast and were dead by the time we got to Japan. We also started at 6 p.m. when the park closed at 9 p.m., what rookies.

The second time I was much more prepared but also a bit more overwhelmed. It was the Food and Wine Festival so there were plenty of choices. But, that is for an article in it's own...

Planning on taking a trip to Disney and drinking around the world? Here is your Unofficial Guide by yours truly:

This guide starts in Mexico, which means you're starting with tequila. So follow this at your own risk...

1. Mexico

The first thing you'll want to do is go straight for the frozen margarita's at La Cantina de San Angel, which is the counter service restaurant that first catches your eye. And while those are amazing (I had myself a frozen peach margarita and it changed my life) you may want to start with a bang and head straight to the tequila bar inside the temple. My friends and I kicked ourselves when we walked in there with our margarita's and saw it. Margaritas are always a great choice but never underestimate the power of tequila.

2. Norway

This stop pleasantly surprised me. I never thought that Norway would be the country that I would return to twice... maybe three times to get my drink again. The Viking Coffee is LIFE CHANGING. Or even the simple Bailey's and Coffee. It was so damn good that yes, we did return on our last day to have a taste of deliciousness again. Throw in some Viking helmets and you've got yourself a grand old time.

3. China

We decided that we needed to start pacing ourselves. Remember-- we conked out in Japan. Again... rookies Plum wine caught our eye at the little food cart, and it was DELICIOUS. I always have a glass of plum wine whenever I'm at a Chinese restaurant now. It was the perfect drink for the moment. Light, refreshing, and didn't put us on our butts.

4. Germany

Beer. What else do you drink in Germany? I had grapefruit beer specifically because this experience was all about trying new things and I was pleasantly surprised. It was s different taste (I had never had grapefruit beer before this), but delicious. I honestly don't know what else someone would get besides beer in Germany. Just get a beer. You must.

5. Italy

My mother land. I was incredibly excited for this stop because I knew exactly what I was getting. How Mexico has its Tequila Bar, Italy has a wine bar. I opted for a small glass of red wine because again, we started with tequila... and of course, it was delicious. We also tried the gelato cart which as you can imagine was amazing. Wine and gelato, the perfect pair.

I also recommend eating at the pizza place in Italy. I did this on my second trip. The bread is perfect to soak up some of the alcohol you had already consumed so you can rally and keep on going.

6. America

What do you get to drink and/or eat once you hit America you ask? Why the most American thing there is. Yes, we each had one of those giant ass turkey legs and a Bud Light. It just seemed like the perfect choice and it seriously was. There is nothing more American than cheap beer (not cheap in Disney... WARNING) and a huge chunk of meat.

7. Japan

Not only does Japan have a perfect spot to watch the fireworks, but to also get a shot of Sake. And that's exactly what we did. Sake in hand, we realized that our day was over because again, we were dumb and started at 6:00, so we grabbed a table by the lagoon and watched the fireworks, drunk. It was fantastic.

8. Morocco

We returned triumphantly to finish what we started. Now, Morocco was a tricky one. What do you get to drink there? Surprisingly enough, there is a full service bar with a bunch of fun and fruity Mediterranean cocktails, or if you aren't feeling anything fruity, go with the list of beers. I decided on one of the cocktails that tasted like a pina colada (with a ton of rum) and some OJ and was pleasantly surprised.

9. France

Another place I wasn't 100% sure of what to get, but this is France, I had to be classy AF. There were a bunch of frozen drinks, but I decided to get a glass of champagne. Kept it simple and I walked around pretending who the hell I was with a plastic champagne flute. And of course tried on all the berets they had in the gift shop, whilst holding my champagne.

10. United Kingdom

Beer is always the assumed choice once you hit United Kingdom, but that's way too safe. Go into the Rose and Crown Pub and get yourself an Irish Car Bomb. This pub is so much fun, you'll never wanna leave. Everyone is just so happy (and drunk). I followed my Irish Car Bomb with a beer, because again... beer is just great.

11. Canada

This is your last stop! You did it! You successfully drank around the world! After my car bombs, I decided to get a simple cider and it was the perfect choice for me. Of course you're in Canada so there are all the beers and ciders, so have your pick! I should also mention that you may choose to start at Canada to start off soft, and then end your trip with the tequila bar-- I just choose to live life dangerously.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.
