Humans do not know the nature or much concrete information about many topics. The ocean makes up 70 percent of our planet; but we only explored 5 percent of it. Who knows what lives deep down in the ocean. Mermaids and sea monsters could live where we have not explored yet; and we would not even know. Earth takes up a very tiny space in the universe. Imagine what could be out there. Other life forms and things beyond our thinking capacity could exist, but we have just not seen it. The topics of God and religion bring about even more unknown facts and topics. What happens to us after we die? Is there a God? We might not get answers to these questions; but there are so many things we still have yet to discover. William Harvey, a physician during the 1600s, said, “All we know is still infinitely less than all that remains unknown.” This statement makes me hopeful and excited for the future. I do not know what joy will come; and that comforts me. Even in our daily lives, we are on the brim of exploration. The experiences waiting to happen give me hope for the future.
We live in our own worlds and sometimes tend to forget the massive size of Earth and all of the opportunities in it. Our current situation can seem daunting and terrible now, but we have so much more time to live. I often forget this; and my forgetfulness causes me to feel scared and to over think situations. Events that alter my course and shake up events in my life sometimes appear to be drastic and overbearing. A poor test grade, breakup with a significant other, rejection, a missed job offer, bad days and nights, sadness, despair, or confusion hit us and we feel hopeless. The unfortunate events erase from our memory the endless opportunities of the Earth. Think about it. You are in your early 20s and your significant other breaks up with you. You do not know what to do and life becomes miserable. But, think about it! Seven billion people live on the plant. SEVEN BILLION. Yes, the person who you dated probably made you feel amazing at times and you feel you will never meet a person better for you. But, someone new will come along. Your feelings will fade and a new love will spark. Love never dies; but new love can be created.
Our time on earth is small compared to the existence of the Universe. Thousands of years came before us. Empire rose and fell; prophets came and went; and people fell in and out of love. Whenever I think about my life even six months ago, I cannot believe how much has changed. What you are currently going through will pass. And even if it takes a couple weeks, months, or years, you have so much more life to live. Things seem difficult now, but just realize that good things take time. Sometimes I look at people older than me and think how they probably struggled some time in their lives. But there they are, living and living quite well. All it takes is one conversation, one class, one text, one book, or one phone call to change your life for the better. You never know when and where you will meet a person that will change your life. You can walk in the nearest coffee shop for your daily coffee and meet a new person. They can become your new best friend, significant other, or mentor. You never know when you will read a book or listen to a song that will give you the motivation you desperately need. Go places, learn each day, grow, and take chances. Live in the present moment and approach every moment with a sense of gratitude. There is so much out there and we cannot let ourselves think our lives will not change. This hope will never die because the opportunities for happiness and joy will never die.
