The universe is my colander
And I its bountiful harvest
Beams of sun slip through the holes of the kitchen tool colored a cool earl gray
Bursting into a golden shower of mist
Cascading down my skin as the sky's dew
Onto the earth as the heaven's kind gift of growth and replenish
I cover the sun's iridescent glow with lathers of sunscreen and a chirpy attitude as the children start puddling in
I tell the children at the pool that I get covered in sun sprinkles when they ask why my skin is so tan
Or why I look like Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon's long lost sister
Before taking them to scoop their favorite ice cream from earnest doggy-paddle digs of chlorine and chemicals
Some imagine strawberry, others imagine mint chocolate chip, and a handful imagine peach
I imagine an ice cream flavor that tastes like the sun
And I imagine
What kinds of wonders will the universe filter through tomorrow?
