I am not one to talk about politics and that very little, am I. I feel we have been in tune some way or form whether wanted to or not. Either we talk about it, complain about it, or press on the beliefs to that or those around us or, simply share the latest gossip; the madness of politics is surely embodied around us.

As I woke up this week to see a video of our American flag being burned in protest, utter shock and disgust came flooding to my eyes. Please know this is not directed toward any of my friends yet, at what I see as a nation, a whole, or streaming across the globe. It utterly disgusted me that we forget who is is in control at the end of the day. That we forget our days are numbered, that our words are numbered, or even we forget to cherish and are choosing to value and spend our choice words poorly like fire and revolvers at those we know. That we forget the ability within ourselves and the incredible power that words have on each other and its ultimate ability to spread like wildfire. That just how coming together and tearing apart could do quite the contrary. Coming together and burning a flag could meet together and build a much stronger flag. It does not matter who is president over the next 100 years there is and will always be hate, wars, discrimination, and this fight for equality. Yes, some will accomplish these better than others, but the true power can come in the American people. Today yes, I am still proud to be an American Citizen because I love this country with all my heart and I pursue to be the best I can be. I say I am not proud of myself today. You cannot assume that you have tomorrow. Nor take anything for granted. Do everything to the very best. Everything in life is a choice, and that dictates the life we lead or desire to dream. And, when we can understand that we take ownership of our life and can design the life we want and dream.

There is joy, and there is a pain, and in meaning as well as the time they are understood. The lost and wandering souls will find the open road and create a new path, as the unloved will draw compassion. Those who fail to belong, for they will find other ways “to be” in life. The overlooked and undermined will beat the odds. The broken hearted will bring out love. The beaten down will hold on hope, strength, and power. These unthinkable, misjudged, and overlooked things will create a better world. For the person who believes they are empty and unloved will hold power to create a better reality. Free will and freedom will change the world. There will be hope, and there will be love yet, not because it simply exists. It will be shaped, formed and, created like a rough cut diamond. It will come from seed and flourish through hard work and pain. It will stand tall, nurtured, and therefore considered beauty, considered hope, and known as love. This I believe and this I dream. I believe in this choice, this choice to “be free,” to be loved and to love, equally. So cherish the ones you love, your husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, boyfriend's and girlfriend's vice Versa. This is the United States of America, read up on it and all that we do have or simply look outside and up. I look around me, and I am so incredibly in awe of the stars and the ocean shores I breathe upon. So thankful, that I am here, and I am alive today. That my friends and family are to and that dreams are yet to be pursued, that, my friends I am thankful for….

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
