One of the most popular New Year's resolutions has something to do with fitness. Many buy gym memberships or create new fitness regimens. There's nothing more dreadful than going to the gym for a good workout and having nothing to listen too. Here are some of my favorite workout songs for the new year!

1. Colors (Audien Remix) by Halsey

Halsey is one the best up and coming artists of the past few years. She has done amazing work for us so far, and will continue to do so. Her original version of "Colors" is spectacular, but the Audien Remix gives this song a little more spunk for a great workout.

2. Dreaming (Remix) by Smallpools & The Chainsmokers

Much like Colors by Halsey, Dreaming by Smallpools is a spectacular song. It has been around for a few years, but the Chainsmokers took it under their belt recently and made it a dance sensation. This song is especially great for cardio!

3. Hurricane (Arty Remix) by Halsey

Here's another great dance remix by Halsey! I originally heard this song in the movie "Nerve" starring Emma Roberts, and James Franco. It caught my eye so much that I paused the movie, and Shazamed the song immediately. It has a steady paced beat, great for almost any workout.

4. Rockabye by Clean Bandit, Sean Paul & Anne-Marie

Rockabye is one of the hottest songs of the new year. It's upbeat, has great lyrics, and a steady rhythm to do crunches or pull-ups to.

5. Sex by Cheat Codes & Kris Kross Amsterdam

This song has been around for a few years, but is always a favorite for my workouts. I love it because it takes an old song and makes it new. It has a great beat to cardio or strength training, and is great to sing along to!

6. Watch Out For This (Bumaye) by Major Lazer, FS Green, The Flexican & Busy Signal

This song is the most fun on my playlist! It has an African-like beat with drums galore! Close your eyes and turn on this song, and you'll see yourself dancing along a white-sand beach. Not only does this song put you in a good mood, but it also has a great beat for cardio!

7. The Greatest by Sia & Kendrick Lamar

This is one of my favorite workout songs, even though it might not be considered the most up-beat dance song. I love it because of the motivational lyrics, especially, "Don't give up, I won't give up", "Uh-oh, running out of breath, but I

Oh, I, I got stamina", and "the critics will test you but the strong will survive".

8. Side To Side by Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj

It was expected that this would be a great song for workouts once Ariana Grande released the music video on bicycle machines. I was skeptical at first, but once I jumped on an elliptical and pressed play, I realized this was a fantastic workout song.

9. Finesse by Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars never disappoints! His new album is pure gold and has some amazing tracks. 24k Magic is the most popular song from the new album, but my personal favorite for hitting the gym is Finesse! It has the soul that Bruno Mars has in his music, with a great rhythm and electric sound. One of my favorite songs for 2017 so far!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
