Halloween is by far my most favorite holiday. I honestly do believe that life's no fun without a good scare. Now that October is in full swing, it's time to finish the last minute details of your costume, decorate your porch with Jack-O-Lanterns and cobwebs, and of course, watch Halloween movies. So if you're okay with ignoring all of your "adult" responsibilities and watch movies for hours on end, go ahead and pop some popcorn, grab a blanket, and get comfy. This is the ultimate list of movies for your Halloween marathon.
"The Nightmare Before Christmas"
Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange? This is my favorite movie of all time. And to all you negative people, including the poor soul who works at Walmart and had to deal with my craziness when I tried to find this movie, this is not a Christmas movie only. Sure, you can watch it during Christmas, but you can watch it during Halloween, too. Or you could be like me and watch it 365 days a year because I love Jack Skellington and my best friend honestly refers to me as the pumpkin queen. This is a must see.
"Saw"
I want to play a game. I don't mean watch the first movie, I mean sit down and watch all seven. I recently bought a pack of the movies off of Amazon for ten bucks, and my boyfriend and I watched all seven in two nights. I absolutely love these movies.
"Nightmare on Elm Street"
One, two, Freddy's coming for you... Again, the entire movie series. Yes, this is an old one, but a great one. Especially if you're into dream analysis.
"Halloweentown"
Come on, this one is a classic and always takes you back to your childhood. I feel like I speak for everyone when I say this: Why in the world did they change actresses?! Kimberly J. Brown was Marnie in "Halloweentown," "Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge," and "Halloweentown High." Did they think we just wouldn't notice that Sarah Paxton IS NOT MARNIE?! I'm still upset ten years later and always will be.
"Hocus Pocus"
I put a spell on you, and now you're mine. Once again, this is a classic. Is it really and truly Halloween if you don't watch this movie? Didn't think so.
"Scary Godmother"
For the sake of my childhood I had to throw this in here. My brothers and I used to watch this movie every year and it's killing me being moved off on my own and not being able to watch it with them. And the fact that this isn't on Netflix breaks my heart. (Thank God for Amazon!)"The Adamms Family"
Did you snap after reading it? Forget a love like Romeo and Juliet, give me a love like Gomez and Morticia. And I think it's safe to say that we all have a little bit of Wednesday in us."Beetlejuice"
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. :)
"Corpse Bride"
Okay, I can't help it. I love Tim Burton."It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"
I just want to lay on my couch and eat junk food and watch this movie with my momma. Please take me back to being a kid.
"Casper"
Can I keep you? Am I the only one who's heart shattered? He's so sweet and such a cute little ghostie and of course you can keep me. Okay, I might just be a little too emotional but you get the picture.
"Frankenweenie"
Did I mention I love Tim Burton? And am I the only one who swears this is the same dog in this movie, Corpse Bride, and The Nightmare Before Christmas?
"Sleepy Hollow"
One of the best moments of my college career so far was walking into my American Lit class and our professor tells us, "We're watching The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow." The cartoon one. College kids love cartoons."Chucky"
I feel like Chucky is an accurate description of children in general. They seem all cute and innocent...until you're alone with them.
"Friday the 13th"
This one has always been one of my favorites, especially considering my birthday is on Friday the 13th. (Okay, some years, but still.)
"Halloween"
My friends and family make fun of me for liking these movies so much because I'm going into child psychiatry and they joke around and say that I'm going to have my own Michael Meyers. Rude, I know."Texas Chainsaw Massacre"
This movie is the reason that I'm terrified of even the sounds of a chainsaw. I'll go to haunted houses like Sloss and Atrox with you and be laughing the whole time, but the second I hear a chainsaw, dude, I'm out."Carrie"
There's this legend in my hometown that our ag teacher would always tell us, The Legend of Debbie Lewis, that was basically the same concept of this movie but it was such a huge Halloween tradition back home, this movie has always been a favorite.I could go on for days naming Halloween movies that are "must watches" for this Halloween season, but this will suffice. Happy Haunting, everyone.
