Every time a holiday, anniversary, or birthday rolls around, I immediately panic because I never know what to buy for my boyfriend. His go-to item is jewelry, which I happen to love, but I’m always scrambling for things to get him. If you’ve ever felt this way, here’s some help to kick-start your gift search.
1. Personalization
This type of gift can be applied to all of the ideas in this article. The best thing you can personalize is a gift that you made, but you can get almost anything engraved these days. Anything that is personalized to you and your significant other’s relationship shows that you put love and care into the gift. I always try to personalize everything I get for my boyfriend, whether it’s with our anniversary date or our names. Even a saying you two share will be perfect to include in any gift. For example, a gift I got him was a sound wave print of my voice saying “I love you to the moon and back” (a phrase we frequently say to each other) with our photo and names. I framed it and gave it to him for our anniversary and it was the perfect way to say “I love you” with a thoughtful gift.
2. Music-Related
My boyfriend plays guitar so, obviously, the first thing I thought of was guitar picks. To amp it up a bit (no pun intended), I found a website that would personalize them. I put a photo of us on one side and our anniversary date on the other. If your significant other plays an instrument, you can definitely find something related to it that you can get for them.
3. An Experience
Tickets to a concert, sporting event, or play is always something that comes to mind when I think of experiences. You could treat your significant other to a day dedicated to what they want to do, or you can go on an adventure together. You could do something active, like take stand-up paddle boarding lessons, or something more relaxed, like a couples massage. With an experience, the gift is more special because you both get to share in it together.
4. “Couple” Gifts
A “couple” gift is something that you get for the both of you. For example, I love Jason Mraz and my boyfriend loves to play guitar. Online, I found that Jason Mraz sells guitar-string bracelets. For Christmas, I got us both a bracelet to wear that reminds us of not only things that we like, but each other. It’s something special and an “inside” gift that only you and your partner will find meaning in.
5. College-Related
If you both go to college, whether it be the same or different, you can always get them something to represent your school. School stores tend to be extremely large with lots of gift options so anything can be turned into a nice gift!
6. Frames
A personalized frame is always a classic gift to get for a guy. You can paint one yourself or order one online and get it engraved. Include his favorite photo of you two and you have a perfect gift that he will love.
7. Food
Cheryl’s cookies is something that I just discovered and absolutely love. You can get delicious cookies delivered right to someone’s door. They have cookies for all types of occasions. I know that a popcorn-version and chocolate-version of Cheryl’s exists as well and I’m sure there are plenty of others!
