It's Summer of 2019 and you find yourself single. If you're like me then this is no surprise but if you're not then poor baby! Everyone knows that there are several stages in the post break up process. You experience the Heartbreak stage, the Rehab stage, and then my favorite stage the Bad Bitch stage.

The Heartbreak Stage: At first it's the really heartbreaking couple of days after the break up where everything reminds you of your former boo. This is the time where you typically mope around and eat ice cream by the pints. You're generally in the mood for sad songs that explain your situations.

1. Out of Love by Alessia Cara

This song particularly questions why the relationship couldn't have worked out. The lyrics especially trigger the emotions if you were broken up with.

"There's not a thing I could say, not a song I could sing for your mind to change. Nothing can fill up the space, won't ask you to stay. But let me ask you one thing: Oh, when did you fall out of love, out of love? Ohh, when did you fall out of love with me?"

2. All I Ask by Adele

Of course the voice of Adele can make anyone sob but this ballad really tugs at the heartstrings. She begs for one last happy memory with her ex lover to help her cope with the break up.

"If this is my last night with you, Hold me like I'm more than just a friend. Give me a memory I can use. Take me by the hand while we do what lovers do. It matters how this ends, 'cause what if I never love again?"

3. My Mind by Yebba

If you're unfamiliar with this powerhouse, let me put you on! Her soulful voice describes her thought process while discovering her lover was cheating on her. In the live version you can really hear every little feeling she experiences.

"You can't even look me dead in the eyes. Her love is strong, she got you hypnotised. You say you love me, but I know it's a lie. When I work so hard to keep you satisfied. I, I, I, I'm bout to lose my...My mind, my mind, my mind"

The Rehab Stage: Once the initial shock value wears off and you're besties are trying to coax you into getting out of the house, you enter the Rehab stage. This is the time where you reflect on the relationship and make the attempt to move on and relove/relearn yourself.

1. Holy by Jamila Woods

In this mellow songs, she explains how she is learning to love herself and accept her situations. It also makes cute references to the bible which always puts me in a good mood personally.

"Woke up this morning with my mind set on loving me, with my mind set on loving me.

I'm not lonely, I'm alone. And I'm holy by my own"

2. Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey

This early 2000's bop is such a feel good tune. She sings about finding yourself but while still having fun. Stop stressing girl!

"Girl, put your records on, tell me your favorite song. You go ahead, let your hair down

Sapphire and faded jeans. I hope you get your dreams. Just go ahead, let your hair down. You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow"

3. Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin

This song is good for any circumstance but especially post breakup! Firstly, its just a super catchy song and should definitely smile at least a little.

"Here's a little song I wrote, You might want to sing it note for note. Don't worry, be happy! In every life we have some trouble, but when you worry you make it double. Don't worry, be happy

Don't worry, be happy now!"

The Bad Bitch Stage: Welcome to the final stage sis! By this time, you are way over the breakup and you're ready to put yourself out there and have some fun. This stage includes many parties and exchanging of information from the cute guy that's been staring at you.

1. Truth Hurts by Lizzo

This song is the Summer anthem! It declares that you are great without a guy and you don't need him anyway.

"I just took a DNA test, turns out I'm 100% that bitch, even when I'm crying crazy.

Yeah, I got boy problems, that's the human in me. Bling bling, then I solve 'em, that's the goddess in me. You coulda had a bad bitch, non-committal."

2. Money by Cardi B

Listen, Cardi B does not make bad music! If this song does not make you feel like you're the baddest thing on Earth, then start it over. Cardi raps about how bomb she is, which then makes you feel bomb too.

"Walkin' past the mirror, ooh Damn, I'm fine (Fine) Let a b*tch try me, boom. Hammer time, uh.

I was born to flex (Yes). Diamonds on my neck. I like boardin' jets, I like mornin' sex (Woo!)

But nothing in this world that I like more than checks (Money)"

3. Freakum Dress by Beyonce

Everyone is guilty of posting those thirst traps on social media to show your old boo exactly what they are missing. Yonce definitely sparks that inner baddie by encouraging you to wear that dress!

"Soon as he saw me, turned on by how the dress was fittin' right. Short and backless (backless, backless). See my silhouette in the moonlight."

It's Summer of 2019 and you find yourself single. Don't let it put you down. It gets better!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
