The Truth About Hell

You really want to know the truth about what Hell is like?

The Truth About Hell
Derek Levendusky

My heart truly aches for people who think that Hell is a fun place where we get to go continue living in sinful pleasures. That when we get there Satan is going to be happy to see us, and we will partake in dark desires of the flesh that are satisfying to us here on the Earth. Please, if you believe this is what happens, stop. This is not the place you will find when you arrive. Please stop and listen, this is the last thing I want to be writing about, but you must know the truth. I recently listened to a man who talked about the time he was in a car accident and was pronounced dead for 15 minutes (he was an Atheist). He talked about how he immediately felt his soul being taken into a different realm and he was standing outside of the gates of Hell.

All of a sudden, he felt like he was beginning to choke (but knew he could not die) and started to smell burning flesh and heard screaming. He said the screams he was hearing were people shouting at him to turn back and leave. They were screaming at him not to enter into the gates because there would be no turning back. Upon death, this man knew that he had made a mistake and that Heaven, Hell, and God were all very very real. God started this man’s heart again as he lay on the operating table, but not before telling him to tell everyone what he had seen and heard.

To this day, he says he hates talking about it because it’s nothing that any human mind can fathom or understand, that we don’t have the vocabulary to understand what he experienced. However, he said that this was not even a place he would want to send the worst sinner or Hitler himself. So are you ready to learn the truth? Do you want to know what God himself says about Hell? If not, I am so sorry that my words were not enough to save your soul!

First off, let’s understand that we are eternal beings, we were created to live in eternity. There is no reincarnation and we do NOT just stop living. Therefore, we are going to be spending eternity in one of two places; Heaven or Hell. The truth is that Hell is human misery forever!! Satan is not your friend, he hates us! He is not a human, he was born an angel and he hates you! Why? Before we were created it was God and the angels, and out of envy and jealousy Lucifer (Satan/Devil) tried to overtake God so that he may become God. In his attempt, he was banished into Hell with the angels that followed him (Demons).

Fast forward, God decides to form creation and makes this entire universe, and wanted us along with it (made in His image). Sure enough, Satan slips himself into God’s creation to devour us with his lies, and we fell for it. Satan did not do this because he thought it would be cool if we got to sin. He did it because he hates God and hates us for being created by God, he wants us destroyed. Therefore, if you think the Devil is your buddy, you are a fool and you have fell for his lies just like Adam and Eve did!

What is Hell really like?

Jesus taught us that Hell is worse than the worst physical persecution that a person could ever face. He told the disciples, “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both body & soul in Hell.” (Matthew 10:28). Hell is a place of eternal punishment. It’s not a short reckoning and then there is nothingness, it is eternal. Mark 9:43-49 reads,

“And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to Hell, to the place of unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into Hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the Kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into Hell, where the worm does not die & the fire cannot be quenched.”

This was Jesus speaking, which is to say that he knows exactly what Hell is like. He also taught that Hell is a place of conscious awareness of something better, but it has now become unattainable. It is a place that is void of God!! Yet, those who are in Hell are extremely aware of God and who He is, but cannot reach Him. The realization sets in that God is that “something better”. Their eyes are opened to the fact that they will be there for eternity, and never able to have a relationship with their father in Heaven because they wanted to ignore Him and His presence on Earth. Hell is a place where you cannot have what is most beautiful, and you have to see what you have rejected (Love itself), and be constantly aware of what you have refused to acknowledge in your heart. This is Hell.

Hell is mentioned in the Bible numerous times including in Matthew 8:12, which says,

“The children of the kingdom will be driven out into the darkness where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."

And in 2 Thessalonians 1:9, it says,

“These will pay the penalty of eternal ruin, separated from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power."

Hell is also described in great detail in Revelation 14:11 , which says,

“The smoke of the fire that torments them will rise forever and ever, and there will be no relief day or night for those who worship the beast or its image or accept the mark of its name."

So why does God send us to Hell? He doesn’t! Hell is not a place that God sends you when He’s upset with you, or turned off by something you’ve done. There’s a common misconception that God sends people to hell. This is wrong. People send themselves to hell when they reject Christ. Yes, those who do not accept Jesus will go to hell but that’s because of their own choosing. Our God is a God of love, which is why He will not be found in Hell.

What does the Cross say about Hell?

Reader, I don’t know if you believe in Jesus and what he has done for us. And I can write line after line about historical facts that aren’t even in the bible that prove that Jesus came and died for us, or about every moment in my life that I have encountered Him, but I won’t. I’m just going to tell you the absolute truth, and if you decide not to believe it I am sorry to tell you it will not change anything once you die because you will die one day!

The human mind wants to believe that at the end of the day we all make it. That in the end love wins out and somehow God will just work it all out. But, there is a cross that Jesus hung on that tells us differently. Jesus came down to save us, which means there was something He was saving us from. The ultimate thing He saved us from was the wrath of God. That in Him we can be covered by the blood of Jesus who took our sin on the cross and died & descended into the deepest parts of Hell.

Who did he come to save? Everyone!

“God shows His love for us that while we were still sinners & ungodly, Christ died for us. Therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, and are saved by Him from the wrath of God.”
Romans 5:8

If Jesus did not believe that the day was coming when the wrath of God would come to all of us, why would he put his life in our place? There would have been no reason to endure the worst death known to man! If there was any other way to get to Heaven and escape Hell, then Jesus would have been a fool. The question should not be, “How can a loving God let us go to Hell?” but rather “How could you not accept such a loving & caring father who would send His only son to Earth to be crushed & shredded by those that He created?”

Don’t let Satan keep you away from the love of God, put your hope in Jesus!

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
