The Truth About Dating A Car Guy

The absolute apple of my boyfriend's eye is not me, as it should be; but his 2006 Volkswagen Golf GTI. He will dump thousands of dollars into his car without blinking and eye, but worry about the price of essential life items, He is a car guy through and through! It may be hard to understand for some people, but us ladies who are fortunate enough to love these guys know the struggle is all too real.

If you are dating a car guy, you will find that he will literally dump thousands of dollars into his car for what seems like no reason. I have always been under the impression that if it got you from one place to another without breaking down, it did not need to be fixed. To a car guy, there is always something new that can be added and made better than the original. This may upset you at some point, because time with you will be sacrificed. He will devote precious hours to installing a new car part. His days off will be spent in the garage, instead of with you. Plans you made months in advance will be sacrificed, because something came up with the car.

While he may dump thousands of dollars into his car, you may find him reluctant to take you out to a nice dinner or even buy you a piece of jewelry. You will become frustrated, blaming the car and all those fancy parts he spends tons of money on. You may even attempt to drop a hint or two about it, but eventually quit--realizing it falls on deaf ears. You will let it go, though and give him space; because it is his money and he can spend it on whatever he wants, even if it isn't you.

After all of the car shows, car parts, and constant talk about cars, you will eventually learn to love the car as much as him. You will learn to enjoy your time spent in the garage with him and maybe even learn a few impressive things yourself. Eventually, you won't even blink an eye when he comes home from the auto parts store, grinning ear to ear, holding his thousand dollar receipt. You may find you love him more, because of his undying obsession with this incredible piece of machinery and his unwavering desire to get his hands dirty. You may also find he loves you more, because you can now share in his passion--rather than standing in the way of it. All of your sacrifices will be worth it, once you realize what an amazing man you have and that he indeed does love you more than his car...although it doesn't seem like it.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
