This past Friday, more of Donald Trump's disgusting comments have surfaced, this time in the form of what the media has called "The Trump Tapes." The GOP Nominee brags about kissing, groping, and attempting to have sex with women in a 2005 conversation with Billy Bush of "Access Hollywood," saying that "when you're a star, they'll let you do it."
He brags about groping women nonconsensually, saying that he can "grab them by the p***y," and discusses a failed attempt to seduce a woman. "I moved on her, and I failed. I'll admit it... I did try and f*** her, but she was married," he says in an unknown situation, just months after marrying his third wife, Melania.
Believe it or not, these comments were not the worst of what was released earlier this weekend. As reported by CNN, Trump engaged in crude conversations over a span of 17 years with Howard Stern, discussing topics like his daughter Ivanka, having sex with women while menstruating, threesomes, and checking out of a relationship with a woman after they turn 35.
Regarding his own daughter, Stern asked Trump if he was able to call his Ivanka a "piece of ass," to which Trump showed no objection to.
In light of this controversy, Donald Trump tweeted a video responding to the leaking of these tapes, in which he said:
"I've never said I'm a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I'm not. I've said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more-than-a-decade old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me know these words don't reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize. I've traveled the country talking about change for America, but my travels have also changed me. I've spent time with grieving mothers who've lost their children, laid-off workers whose jobs have gone to other countries, and people from all walks of life who just want a better future. I have gotten to know the great people of our country, and I've been humbled by the faith they placed in me. I pledge to be a better man tomorrow and will never, ever let you down. Let's be honest: We're living in the real world. This is nothing more than a distraction from the important issues we are facing today. We are facing today. We are losing our jobs; we are less safe than we were eight years ago; and Washington is totally broken. Hillary Clinton and her kind have run our country into the ground. I've said some foolish things but there's a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women, and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed, and intimidated his victims. We will discuss this more in the coming days. See you at the debate on Sunday."
It's no secret to anyone that Donald Trump isn't exactly the kindest to women, but the conversations that have been released to the public are quite possibly his most misogynistic yet. A large group of Trump's fellow Republicans have condemned the words he has said, and a number of those who have endorsed him are not continuing to do so.
As stated by New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte, "I'm a mom and an American first, and I cannot and will not support a candidate for president who brags about degrading and assaulting women." The tapes have even been condemned by Melania Trump, who has said that "the words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me."
The release of these vulgar conversations involving Donald Trump, a man who has the desire to lead this country, only further show his lack of qualification. The commander-in-chief should, by no means, be a racist and a misogynist. The commander-in-chief should, by no means, be Donald Trump.
