As we all know, Beyoncé slayed to the fullest extent last week.
She hit us with a trifecta within 48 hours!
And I’m pretty sure you “lost yo mind"... I know I did!
First she dropped her single, “Formation,” accompanied by an amazing and powerful music video on Saturday. This was the first time she had dropped any music since her surprise drop of her last album, “Beyoncé."
Well, “Ring the Alarm,” because she did it again!
Formation is said to be a “visual anthem." The lyrics in general radiate her own self-love despite rumors and hate she has received over the years, as well as #BlackPower. The music video shows Beyoncé recognizing multiple current social issues. Some included the “Hands up, don’t shoot” movement, and even Katrina.
Lets take a look at social media for a brief second. If you are truly a part of the hive, you would have realized that Beyoncé was absent from Instagram for about 10 weeks… coincidence? Is it a coincidence that she dropped this song the day before the Super Bowl?
After the release, everyone was wondering the same thing: “Will Beyoncé perform her new single?”
Not only did she perform her new single, but she and Bruno Mars singlehandedly put a (Super Bowl) ring on it. Sorry, Coldplay.
She killed her song (So what she almost fell? She recovered with the grace of a fierce angel) along with having her back up dancers dress as Black Panthers in honor of their anniversary. She also paid homage to her role model and past Super Bowl performer, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson – did you see the similarities of their outfits?? (I mean, how could you not? Everyone was talking about it within minutes of her appearance).
The whole Super Bowl was centered around Equal Love, for EVERYONE, which is a message this world needs.
But it doesn’t end there...
Queen B brought us all to our knees when her commercial for her Formation world tour was immediately released after her performance.
Why were we brought to our knees?
1. Did I mention she just dropped a single about 24 hours ago before this?
2. She just slayed the Super Bowl – for a second time. (And she wasn’t even the headliner.)
And now she just announced her tour, that none of us can afford because we are broke college students. “Bow Down” and pray to God that he sends you some money some way, some how. You all know this tours means more new music, and of course an amazing performance by the one and only!
Lets just say Beyoncé showed us she runs the world, once again. Even if she’s getting backlash, she’s still holding her head up with pride, and she should! She graced us with her talent once again and all within 48 hours!
I guess Beyoncé was just trying to say… Happy Black History month!
