Love vs. Hate: The Tragedy in Orlando
CBS News

The Terrorist attack in Orlando was, needless to say, heartbreaking. Many lives of Americans were changed or affected on that day. In fact, all of America was permanently affected. The stories of the victims are all different, but have one thing in common, fear. From now on every one of the victims who survived, or the families members of the victims, will walk daily with a different outlook on life. Not only will they be forced to live with the pain of loss, but also the anxiety of fear and need for self-protection.

Although I do not agree with a homosexual lifestyle, they are still people. There are many hurtful comments that are coming from people, (most of whom claim to be Christians), that clearly have it all wrong. We are called to love each other and to support each other through our struggles. We are not called to support their lifestyle, but love them because they are people. Regardless if the people who were massacred were homosexual or not, they did not deserve anything that was done to them. Again, they are people.

This tragedy is unexplainably hard for the families of the victims and the victims themselves. None of us will ever be able to truly comprehend the tremendous pain that is felt by them. Many people will never feel the relief of not living in fear, or pain. The grieving has to be confusing and difficult, yet America is giving the families no time or privacy to grieve. Not only have many said they deserved to be killed because they are homosexuals, but we have turned this devastating news into a debate on gun control. Many politicians have taken this to be a chance for political agendas. What these politicians fail to realize is that this tragedy did not occur because of guns.

The only reason this tragedy occurred is because there is a tremendous amount of hate and increasing evil in our world today. So, what can we all do? We must stand with the victims in love. Also, we can pray. Pray for the victims and their families. Pray for the terrorism and hate. But most importantly, pray for America.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
