You always thought that being weak was a bad thing.
You always thought you couldn't let people see you cry.
You were too strong to be broken.
You had to be bright to lift everyone else up.
You have never before been so terribly mistaken.
You really gave entirely too little credit to human beings.
You see it now, right?
Do you get it now?
There's a quiet strength in tears.
There's something therapeutic in letting it go.
God's promises really do shine brightest in the dark.
And now you know.
Now you know that people you don't feel comfortable crying around are people you don't trust.
Now you know that everyone else's happiness doesn't hang on how bright your smile is.
Now you know it's okay to have a hard day and talk about it sometimes.
Now you know you're human.
You bleed.
You cry.
And you hurt.
And the right people won't mind a bit.
You don't have to hold up walls anymore.
Sometimes, letting them in is the best decision you'll ever make.
If they tell you to call them anytime, do it.
If they offer to listen, talk.
If you need a hug, ask for one.
Not all human beings want to watch you hurt and laugh at your pain or mock you.
Not all of them will make you feel as if your emotions are too burdensome for them to deal with.
Some people really do love you, and it's so much more than just a word.
They will answer your early mornings texts.
They will hold your hand when the tears come.
They will listen to your endless stories.
And they will remember because you matter.
You don't have to be a superhero; you could never be one anyways.
You just have to be you, and find the people who are okay with that.
You don't have to be a tough kid all the time.
Which is good, because you'll never be able to be one again.
