There have been hundreds of moments in American sports that made you chant USA! USA! USA! Weather it's due to a terrorists death or nazi's disbelief, we have kicked some serious ass throughout history. Here are the top five sports moments that make us all proud to be Americans.
5. Brandi Chastain's World Cup Goal (1999)
(12:07)
On July 10, 1999, at the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup Final, USA took on China in the final game. After a scoreless match, the game went into shootout's where Brandi Chastain scored the final goal to win it all.
4. The Dream Team (1992)
After the USA had received bronze in the previous Olympics, they thought it necessary to compile a team full of all time greats. With guys like Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Patrick Ewing, there was no way that they could be stopped; and they weren't. The USA ended up winning the gold medal and crushing every team in it's path, winning each game by an average of 44 points!
3. Jesse Owens Proves Hitler Wrong (1936)
The 1936 Olympics were held in Berlin, Germany when Hitler was in power. This was also the time of the Holocaust, no one knew that it was happening though. Hitler was notoriously known for saying that people of different skin colors were inferior to the white race, and boy was he wrong. Jesse Owens, an American, black Olympiad, won four gold medals and broke five world records that year. Suck it, Hitler.
2. Osama Bin Laden Announced Dead at Mets-Phillies Game (2011)
The place that the most American's were gathered on the night that Osama Bin Laden was killed was the Mets-Phillies game at Citizen's Bank Park. The players were stuck with confusion when the whole stadium roared in chants of USA! USA! USA! The broadcast was even stopped to recognize that Bin Laden was dead. Give's me goosebumps every time.
1. Miracle on Ice (1980)
Easily the greatest moment in the history of sports. With tensions high between the Soviet Union and the USA and the fact that the Soviets had won the gold medal in six out of seven previous Olympic Games, the stakes were never higher. A group of college kids, led by Herb Brooks, put an end to the Soviet's reign and went on to win the Gold Medal against Finland. Take that, ya Commie bastards! USA! USA! USA!
