College students have become experts at reading textbooks. We scan the information and pick out key points, but it is important that we give our minds a break and read a book that is good for the soul. These are the top seven books that every college student must read:

1. "This Side of Paradise" by F. Scott Fitzgerald

This classic novel is witty and romantic. It tells the story of a Princeton student who becomes disillusioned with life after graduation.

2. "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

This novel provides a new outlook for students. It contains valuable lessons about the importance of friends and family.

3. "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley

This novel is a dark and satirical look at a Utopian future where individuals have a hard time fitting into the system.

4. "The Stranger" by Albert Camus

This novel revolves around the idea of personal choice and the vastness of the universe. This is a dark story about a person who killed a man and did not feel guilt for it. This book shows the darkness and craziness of the world.

5. "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak

This book is about death, love and war. It uses a beautiful usage of writing to captivate the audience and to feel every emotion so deeply.

6. "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch

This book is a transcription done by a former computer science professor. After being diagnosed with terminal cancer, this professor gives his final lecture in Carnegie Mellon. This book is an inspiration and pushes people to follow their dreams.

7. "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett

This novel looks at three women whose determination creates a marvelous story. Their hard work changes a town forever. They are able to shape the perspective of how women look at one another. Also, the movie based on this book is not only hilarious but also filled with hope.
