The Top Four Music Artists You Should Check Out In Lockdown

From Spotify to Youtube, music is more accessible than ever these days. Almost any song you want to find online, you can find in its original form, remixes, or covers. It's a really special time to be trapped inside because there is more accessible inspiration than ever before. With that being said, music can be an escape from reality as well. During quarantine I have listened to both older artists and new artists alike. I believe it is never too late to discover new music, no matter how old. Here are the four artists (in no particular order) that I have listened to more often since being inside.* Disclaimer* Some songs listed are explicit.

4) The Weeknd

So I have been a fan of this artist for years. My first odyssey article was actually written about some of his new work! He recently released a new album called After Hours (2020), however, his older work is just as great. The Weeknd's discography contains melancholy undertones, heartfelt lyrics, as well as upbeat party tracks.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
