7 Reasons My Sister Is My Best Friend
Megan Wiegert

Recently, I said goodbye to dorm life and I moved into a new apartment just off campus with my sister. Anyone who knows me has probably heard me brag and gush over how amazing my sister is. There's a good reason for that; she IS amazing.

Though there is a significant age difference between us, now that we are both adults in our twenties, you would never guess it. It may sound cliche, but my sister and I genuinely do finish each other's sentences

However, incidentally, we don't finish each other's sandwiches. At least not usually

She is my person. How incredibly lucky I am to have my sister for my person! She has been there for me for as long as I can remember-longer in fact. Some people are not so lucky to have a sister like mine. Because of this, it may prove difficult for some people to understand our closeness. So I have decided to compose a list. Hopefully, it will illustrate just how much she means to me. As my sister and I communicate almost entirely through references to our plethora of shared interests, I figured it would be fitting to include some delightful GIFs to work as a visual aid.

1. She knows exactly why I picked the number seven.

2. When we start talking, the conversation could last for hours and never get boring.

3. She introduced me to basically everything I love.

4. We could have fun together doing literally anything-even if we're doing nothing at all!

5. We essentially share a closet/wardrobe (which is great because we also shop-til-we-drop together).

6. She doesn't let me get away with anything!

We love each other unconditionally, but there's also an abundance of sass and jokes at each other's expense! She'll let me know if I'm being too weird, with a smile on her face. We absolutely adore each other, flaws, perfect imperfections, and all.

7. The most important reason...is that there are a million more.

My sister gives me a million more reason to love her every single day. Every time she sends me a text to check on me. Every time she remembers my favorite snacks with the groceries. Every time she sends me something funny or interesting or moving because it made her think of me. Every time I see something to share with her. Every time I talk with her for hours and hours. Every time I end up just listening to her talk for hours and hours!

Every time Valentine's Day comes around and I know I'll always have her as my Valentine. Every time we sit down for a movie night and watching something we've seen a hundred times before. Every time we can't decide what movie to watch, so we just watch Friends or Monk or Psych. Every time she introduces me to a new show or lets me subject her to the next weird thing I'm obsessing over.

I love her like I love to nap. I love her like I love to eat ice cream or cereal for dinner. I love her the way only sisters can love each other. And along with all of our references and inside jokes, I know she loves me just as unconditionally. Words cannot adequately explain what a relief it is to know you are loved by someone. To be loved by someone who knows you better than anyone-sometimes better than you know yourself...it's a warm, wonderful feeling. I hope we all get to feel that in our lives. I hope to never ever lose it.

If only there were a word to sum up our relationship...

What can I say? She's my sister.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
