After starting my sophomore year, I have come to the conclusion that there are 5 things that any college student will tell you they hate right away. You just might agree.
1. Taking a 7:45
I get it if you’re a freshman transitioning into college life, but even after the first time you have to wake up and go in to a 7:45am class, you are going to be dreading it. There’s just something different from waking up for high school versus waking up for college. If you haven’t experienced this yet, don’t.
2. The awkward waiting
Walking into a crowded hallway full of people standing or sitting along the sides is just a little nerve racking, especially if you have anxiety, but you better learn how to deal with it if you want to get a seat that makes you comfortable. I hate this the most, I believe, because it’s just so quiet and strangely awkward. People don’t like making friends, and sitting on the floor next to the boy who hasn’t showered in 4 days for an hour makes me question my college career.
3. Someone stealing your unofficial signed seat
Come on! I’ve sat here a majority of the year. Don’t just come in and sit down in my seat. I literally have just started getting used to the people I’m sitting by. Now I have to sit by complete strangers again? You can bet I’m going to be glaring at you for the rest of the class. Stay in the seat you’ve sat in since day one!
4. Textbooks
We don’t even use these things. Professors say they are required, but my advice to anyone is to wait until you actually need one. In my college life I have bought 12 textbooks and have only used one. Get a buddy. Read theirs if you need to. It’ll save you $2,000.
5. Parking
Colleges should be on top of this by now considering this isn’t their first rodeo. Get a parking garage. If there’s still an overflow, build another! You’re sucking us dry anyways! Might as well make us purchase someone we actually need.
