Let's be honest: you've watched more Netflix this semester than you have listened to lectures. I totally get it, there is something surprisingly therapeutic about the black and red layout of the browse page. It's also all too common that we spend the majority of our time clicking through the options and only are able to watch one episode before the sun starts to rise and you realize you still did absolutely nada on your research paper. To ease the struggles and contribute to your addiction, I give you the 5 best Netflix original series that you should have already started binge watch after you read the first line of this article.
5. Chelsea Does
Shaking up the traditional idea of a docuseries, my favorite HBIC Chelsea Handler addresses four topics and well, she does them. Marriage, racism, drugs, and technology. She doesn't hold back. Some of the subject matter is of a more proactive matter and she doesn't handle some situations lightly, but at the end of the day, what else could one really ask for from her? That's what makes this show brilliant in its own right.
4. Love
Okay, so yes I was terribly angry the entire watched this series because who wouldn't get a little upset when you're watching a promising-failing-promising-back to failing-relationship unfold right in front of your eyes?! That's not a spoiler alert, btw, because I've watched it all and I'm still unsure. I mean, the lead male role's name is Gus, how can you not love a show with a character named Gus?!
3. Grace and Frankie
Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, two powerhouse actresses packed together in two seasons of comedic excellence. When their marriages take a turn for the strange, they lean on each other and develop one of the most wacky and out of the box friendships. With such a strong cast, there was no possible way this show would be a dud.
2. Stranger Things (duhhh)
Do I really need to say anything more about this Spielberg/King-esque wonder of the Netflix word other than that it is completely freaking fantastic. Trust me, those will be your exact thoughts after finishing the last episode. It will also leave you crying for season two.
1. Bloodline
Ever since "Friday Night Lights," Kyle Chandler has totally been my MCM but it wasn't until I saw him portray John in "Bloodline" when I truly was like, "yes, this guy is terrible yet so great at the same time." Following the twisted lives of a wealthy Southern Florida family, this series will literally have you hating and loving each character at some point in the show.
