Okay, America. The Jonas Brothers are back. You know it, I know it, your grandmother who quite literally is the most out of loop human being knows it. Even the Ron Swansons of the world know it. I personally am PLEASED -- I was never a JoBro stan, though I listened to their music and watched the show/Camp Rock/Camp Rock 2/etc.
I'm pleased for a few reasons; first because it's incredibly cool to see them back together, and Sucker is a really, really good song. It's just nice. IDK. It makes me happy. Second, this means that boybands of our generation have the ability to reunite AND do well. Look at them. They're definitely about to make literally an incomprehensible amount of money AND they make it look fun (I mean I'm sure making a lot of money is fun either way but you know).
me: don't say it don't say it
world: the jobros are back together!!!
me: please don't say it Alice don't do it
me:
me: ok so when is one direction getting back?
I'm asking what NEEDS TO BE ASKED. If the Jonas Brothers broke up on October 29, 2013, and are now back as of March 9, 2019, that is roughly a little more than 5 years (math majors are QUAKING at me rn). One Direction released Made in the A.M. and was donezo as of November 15, 2015, we can start asking questions in the spring of 2021. I'm not saying it'll happen, but we should like, prepare right? this is exactly what a doomsday conspiracy theorist sounds like send help
After having multiple serious, intense, important discussions, fellow One Direction stans have aided me to think of the top five songs that would be best done at the potential reunion tour. These are songs that A) I want to see again B) would age like FINE WINE C) their mature voices would just beautifully deliver. Enjoy.
Honorary mention: I do not ever want to hear Illusion or Save You. Sorry guys.
5) I Want
Starting off pretty strong. This song didn't get all the hype to this day, and I think it's super unique and kinda respects the old UK music vibes ~ (idk actually it just seems like that). Zayn's notes are pretty sick and in general, I think it's just a different song. You hear the theme of this song in music today, but it's not delivered the same. I think this song goes so hard and deserves a comeback.
4) Rock Me
With deeper, mature voices, and just manlier men singing the song that defined my life and sexuality, I wouldn't be mad hearing it again. Special shoutout to the "R O C K ME AGAIN" and "I USEEDDD TO THINK THAT I WASS BETTTTER ALOONNNNE" part. I gotta hear it live one more time.
3) Little Things
GiphyA song that aged so well. As a kiddo listening to it, I loved it, but like, didn't have much to seriously hate about myself. The reaction was like omg they're so deep and they love me. Now, it genuinely hits a part of my heart, and for a little minute or two, gets me in my feelings. The words are just so real and Harry's solo about fitting into jeans hits EVERYONE I KNOW in the heart. Bring it back.
2) Best Song Ever
GiphyPersonally, this was my favorite era of 1D. They just released their movie -- fire -- and the production that went into this music video is the reason I am a film and media management major. It is SO HAPPY and is a genuine cure to sadness. To not only see the boys onstage together, but singing this song, jumping around, confetti falling? Incredibly sweet.
1) Gotta Be You
That's RIGHT. Y'all thought I'd say What Makes You Beautiful, but honestly I'm okay with keeping it in the past. The boys will sing it on their separate tours so it's whatever. Anyway, GBY deserves so much more attention than it gets nowadays. The violin, sweet little musical interludes and thE FRIKIN HIGH NOTES?!??! Who wouldn't want to hear Harry bring it back to those days. I would. I don't have much to say on this other than, if you're still not convinced this is the best reunion tour song, go take a listen. Watch the music video. It's a pretty clever little thing.
