1.You spend ALL of your time together
Literally. ALL of your time is spent with your team. During the preseason, you live with them, go to breakfast with them, go to practice with them, lunch, more practice, dinner, and more practice. All with your team. There is no avoiding them, but it’s not like you would want to anyways! It’s the best time of the year when you can basically just play your sport and live on campus with your friends.
2. Only they can understand your frustration when you don’t do well
So you don’t meet your goal for the event, you don’t run as fast as you want to, or you don’t make the perfect pass. Not every event you have is going to be phenomenal. Your teammates are the only ones who are going to be able to make you understand that. You aren't always going to be the perfect athlete and play the perfect game, and your teammates are going to be the ones to make you realizes that you aren't the reason they lost the game. After all, everyone messes up, and they are the ones who are going to be able to relate to your frustration when the time comes.
3. They will ALWAYS support you
Whether you win or lose, your team is a tight knit group that will support you— no matter what. If you do something great in an event, you know that your team is always going to be right behind you, cheering you on every step of the way. Even if you don’t do spectacular, your teammates are going to be there to pat you on the back.
Being on a team with your friends is such a great experience, so when you have that opportunity, don’t waste it! It’s an awesome feeling with an even more awesome support system.
