Gilmore Girls is one of the most popular shows to ever exist for many reasons, but one of the more prominent ones is definitely its profound wisdom. Even when it seemed like the moment was insignificant or quick, the characters were always sharing their growth and experiences with the audience with memorable words. My top ten favorites that I try to apply to my life are as follows:

1. "A little nervous breakdown can really work wonders for a girl." - Rory Gilmore

Rory always seemed to be able to bring a bit of humor into any situation. She has a point, though. Sometimes a person has to hit an emotional rock and get a fresh slate in order to move on and achieve greatness.

2, "What she tackles, she conquers." - Richard Gilmore

Richard Gilmore always appreciated strength in the women in his life, and made it clear how proud he was. In these words, he gave every woman (and man) a big reminder to give a hundred percent in everything she dedicates herself (or himself) to. Don't just tackle, conquer.

3. "People can live a hundred years without really living for a minute." - Logan Huntzberger

Ah Logan, our favorite rich boy. Although I'm forever Team Jess, Logan had some great redeeming qualities, one of which being his way with words. His secret society endeavors opened Rory's world up and taught watchers that one needs to take risks and experience life, or it isn't worth living.

4. "I want to live my life so that I'll be able to read an in-depth biography about myself in later years and not puke." - Paris Geller

Paris was always one smart cookie. Although she was harsh, blunt, and sometimes just plain rude, she was an admirable character. My favorite thing about Paris is that she was driven, and it was to impress herself and live up to her own expectations, not other peoples'. When looking back on my life, I've learned to take a Paris-like approach. I want to be impressed with what I've achieved, and be proud of myself.

5. "No one's stopping you from making whatever you want happen." - Logan Huntzberger

Once again, Logan had some great advice for Rory. When you want something, your ambition and effort can get it for you. Don't let anything trivial stand in the way of your goals, and don't put the blame on anything else when if give up. Be persistent and strong in all of your endeavors.

6. "I guess if you can find that one person, you know, who's willing to put up with all your crap and doesn't want to change you or dress you, or you know, make you eat French food, then marriage can be alright... But that's only if you find the right person." - Luke Danes

Luke, one who was never really great with words, definitely had his moments that surprised audiences. His little chats with Lorelai always seemed to bring out the best wisdom from him. His perspective on love and marriage is so simple and realistic, yet sweet. Whether one believes in one soulmate or multiple possibilities, it is essential to ensure that the person loves you for you, and doesn't want to change everything about who you are.

7. "Life's short, talk fast." - Lorelai Gilmore

In comes Lorelai with some quick, simple wit. These words are essentially her slogan, and they are great words to live by. Life is too short to hold back and live with regrets. Be honest and real with the people in your life, and never be afraid to be yourself.

8. "You're still a contender." - Jess Mariano

In the recent Gilmore Girls revival, Jess Mariano made an amazing comeback (once again, always Team Jess). When Rory is at her worst, with little inspiration and motivation, Jess is there to bring her back up. No matter where you are in your life, you are still a contender. Life can knock you down and do its worst, but there is always time to get back up and fight.

9. "One day I decided that instead of being hurt and upset by your disapproval, I'm going to be amused." - Lorelai Gilmore

Lorelai was always a great role model for being independent and sticking up for yourself. When her parents are constantly at her for her decisions she finds the humor in it instead of letting it get to her. In life, it's important to not let people who disapprove of your lifestyle get under your skin. What's important is that you love yourself and what you're doing. As long as you aren't hurting anyone else, it's no one's place to judge or intervene.

10. "This thing we're doing here, you, me, I'm in. I am all in." -Luke Danes

Once again, a Luke quote that had most fans near tears during his and Lorelai's first date. When you dedicate yourself to someone, it's always best to not hold back. Be honest and let your guard down. If you want this person to know the real you and be involved in every aspect of your life, you need to take a page out of Luke's book and go all in.

Honorable Mentions:

- Rory's entire graduation speech

- "In omnia paratus (ready for anything)" -The Life and Death Brigade

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
