I don't know about anyone else, but for me, being in college has made me a little nostalgic for those cartoon television shows we would watch as kids. Everyone has had a favorite show from their childhood, but I have 10 top shows that I think most people would still be watching now if they could.
1. "Rugrats"
Now this one holds a special place in my heart which is why it is on this list instead of some other shows. "Rugrats" was by far one of the shows I watched the most in my younger years. My bedtime was dictated by the episode schedule, and I owned the movies. I was also one of those people who got very upset when they remade "Rugrats" but with all of the characters as teenagers, but that's a different story.
2. "Jimmy Neutron"
I believe that "Jimmy Neutron" was one of those great Nickelodeon shows that everyone watched. My favorite episode from this series, besides the "Jimmy Timmy Power Hours," was probably when they made Sheen a genius and Ultralord came to tell him he had to drain his brain. Sheen is probably the reason I would watch this again.
3. "Hey Arnold"
Honestly I did not watch "Hey Arnold" all that often. I do think however that if I were to watch it now it would be a very interesting show. I feel like this was the show where the creators put in a lot of issues that we were just too young to understand at the time (Pigeon man theory anyone?). I would love to watch several episodes again and see what jumps out at me.
4. "Codename: Kids Next Door"
Now this is a show that I watched a lot. This was not always a show that each episode's plot followed another. Despite this there were overarching plots that would, in the long run, connect. This is mainly a show that I would watch for nostalgia sake though because this is one show definitely designed with humor that kids can understand with few jokes for the older crowd.
5. "Kim Possible"
"Kim Possible" is a show that I actually didn't start to appreciate until this past year. A group of my friends have been re-watching every episode of "Kim Possible" with a few every week. We spend a lot of time making fun of the unrealistic science in the show, as well as the stupid things the characters say, but the show is still quite entertaining.
6. "Teen Titans"
"Teen Titans" is another show that I have watched with friends recently. This is a show that, though filled with filler episodes, has a clear story arch for each season. I was always a big fan of the Slade season, as well as the Trigon season. This is probably one of the shows that I felt the most nostalgia for. So you can imagine my disappointment when I realized that the new iteration of "Teen Titans" was nothing like the original.
7. "Danny Phantom"
Yo, Danny Fenton, he was just fourteen when his parents built a very strange machine. It was designed to view a world unseen. With such classic villains as Vlad Masters, Skulker, and the Box Ghost, Danny Phantom definitely had his work cut out for him. Not to mention the need to keep his powers secret from his ghost hunting parents. If that doesn't spell out drama I don't know what does. Just watch it if you don't believe me.
8. "Ben 10"
For anyone who wanted to become a superhero without having to be irradiated or whatever "Ben 10" was the show to watch. This is one of the most plot heavy shows that I can remember from childhood. The creators also managed to make ten unique aliens, with their own powers, that each fulfilled a significant role in the show. I would highly suggest re-watching this show if it was one that you enjoyed as a kid, or just watch it if you haven't seen it before.
9. "Pokémon Indigo League"
"Pokémon" is as ageless as Ash Ketchum himself. You are hooked from the first episode when Ash meets Pikachu, sees Ho-Oh, steals a bike, then saves Pikachu from a horde of Spearow. Then there are the big standout episodes that mean a lot to any Pokémon fan, mainly "Bye Bye Butterfree" and "Here Comes the Squirtle Squad". This is also on Netflix.
10. "Avatar the Last Airbender"
Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. If anyone is surprised this is number one I would like to know. This is the show that defined our childhood and I have watched the entire series three times since it has ended. I will also no doubt be watching it again.
