The Top 10 Best Christmas Movies

It's truly not Christmas without these movies

Once December 1st hits, it's time to break out the Christmas DVDs! You only have a short window to be able to watch as many as you can, so here are my ten favorite Christmas movies!

1. A Christmas Story

Even though there's a 24 hour marathon on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day every year, that's honestly not enough times to watch this movie. This is my favorite Christmas movie of all time, and it's honestly not Christmas until poor Ralphie shoots his eye out.

2. Elf

This awesome movie about a human who grew up as an elf and helping his biological father believe in Christmas again is another classic. Although it's a little newer to technically be called a classic, I've never met a single person who doesn't love this movie.

3. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

The Griswold family Christmas is another annual tradition that can not be missed. Even after seeing all of the chaos that ensues with the family before Christmas, everything continues to get worse on Christmas Eve. From a dry turkey, to a squirrel in the tree, and Clark's boss getting kidnapped, this is one family Christmas you do not want to miss out on!

4. Home Alone

Let's face it, none of us ever want to end up in a situation like poor 8-year-old Kevin McAlister. But watching his antics with the Wet Bandits is one of the best parts of Christmas.

5. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

The sequel to the original is just as good as the first one, which does not happen very often. Kevin gets left by his family once again, but this time gets on the wrong plane and ends up in New York City while his family is in Miami. He meets up with his old foes, the Wet Bandits (who are now the Sticky Bandits) and of course, chaos ensues.

6. The Santa Clause

Because of this movie, Tim Allen is now everyone's image of what Santa Claus should look like. Scott Calvin ends up as the new Santa Claus when the old one falls off of his roof, much to his dismay. He now has to be Santa every year, with only his son as a witness to what really happened and everyone else thinking that he is insane.

7. It's a Wonderful Life

This is a true classic. I still cry at the ending every year that I watch it. And I still believe that every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.

8. Miracle on 34th Street

Another true Christmas classic. A little girl who doesn't believe in Santa slowly learns to believe after seeing someone familiar working with her mother.

9. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The classic Doctor Seuss cartoon film comes alive and is told in even more detail in this live action Jim Carrey version. Plus this Grinch is actually pretty relatable.

10. Christmas With the Kranks

Although a newer movie and not as good as some of the other classics, it's still a fun movie to watch during the holidays. A couple (Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis) decide not to celebrate Christmas one year and go on a cruise instead, ensuing in hilarity as they try and avoid everything that has to do with Christmas.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
