There are less than two weeks left until Christmas now. The Secret Santa gifts are starting to come more often. The gifts from family, friends and others can either really get you a good gift or can leave you wondering "what is this?" Whenever I thought about this, I was thinking of the little boy who was opening gifts up on Christmas. He realizes he received an avocado, but politely thanked the person who got him this gift. Yet in his mind, he is thinking, what is this? This is isn't a toy. This is food. OK, just be polite, that never hurts and Santa is always watching.
With Secret Santa, it is so hard to sometimes hide your expression because you don't know who gave you the gift. What if you think it is a funny gift to you, but they wanted it to be sentimental?
Yes, this can be difficult to figure out what to say, so you just say..."oh my gosh, this is amazing! Thank you!" But, you're actually thinking, Amazingly great. A Swiffer sweeper! Who knew that could be a gift! Wow, really original. Is this suppose to be funny? Should I laugh? No, OK I will just smile. How many times can I say thank you to make them believe that I am thankful for this?
Or, you could get a really great gift, like a new coffee maker, and you don't want to show that you are overly excited about this so you just say, "You know me so well, thank you!" While you're thinking, COOFFFEEEEE YAY. I can have coffee at any time of the day now. Night, day, afternoon, yes. This is the best gift ever. How many times can I say thank you before I sound annoying?
Also, when you get everyone you know asking you what you would like for Christmas and you say the same thing over and over. If you received that same gift from everyone, then you are golden, but if not, then good luck. After the 10th Starbucks gift card, you will be thinking is, I will never have to pay for expensive coffee ever again. This is great. Yet, if you tell someone you would like something that you only really need one of, like a blanket, you'll be thinking, hmm another blanket, so soft, but I already have five of you....thank you...
Christmas is such a great time of the year. Full of gifts and laughter. The moral of this is be thankful for all that you have. Some things may be funny or sentimental, but it just truly shows how much a person cares. Happy Holidays to all!
