As Thanksgiving approaches, I have been spending more and more time thinking about the things I am thankful for. I do not have a long list, but the thinks that I am thankful for mean so much to me, so I decided to share them with all of you! (These are in no particular order)

1. My Family

As crazy as they are sometimes, my family is my biggest support system. I run to my parents with any issue I have and they listen and do what they can to talk me through and help me with my problems. My brothers help when I have technology issues, when I need a laugh or a pick-me-up, or when I just want someone to binge AHS with me.

2. My Education

As hard as it can be, I am so incredibly thankful that I am furthering my education to become a teacher. The hours of making lesson plans, rubrics, worksheets, and all the hours spent in classrooms will be completely worth it once I have my degree and teaching license and can say I have a classroom of my own.

3. My Close Friends

Lately, I have felt very stressed and overwhelmed due to a number of things. Whether it be work, homework, my massive amounts of credits I decided to take, or anything else that has caused me to freak out on any given day of the week, you guys have been there to talk me through it all. You have been there with open arms, open ears, open doors and chocolate. You have been able to talk me down when I've felt stressed beyond words and you have been able to make me laugh when all I wanted to do was hide and cry. I appreciate you all so so much and I am so thankful for you all!

4. My Boyfriend

Like I already said, I have been a complete mess lately, and even when I can't tell left from down, you still find ways to help me see things clearly. You come surprise me and constantly make sure that I am taking care of myself because you know that is the last thing on my mind. You do everything you can to make me laugh and I appreciate it tremendously.

5. My Kindergartners

This semester I have been fortunate enough to be placed in a private Catholic school in Cleveland. My students are the sweetest boys and girls and they have the biggest hearts. Each day I walk into my classroom I am greeted by 27 smiles and waves and it makes my mornings so much better. Each day that I leave I hear "Bye Miss Kaylee" from 27 voices at once. They always ask me if I am coming back and get excited when I tell them yes. This week we were talking about Jesus and making crowns like the one he wore and one of my students came up me with a large smile on his face and said: "We are all God's little helpers." It completely melted my heart when I heard him say that. I just need a little more kindergarten in my days to make life seem better.

Those are the few things I am thankful for this year. What are you thankful for?

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
