The Thing With Our Generation...

Our generation has so much to offer, yet we only use it for our own individual benefit

The Thing With Our Generation...

In today’s world, our generation is looked down upon for many different things. Many of the generations above us think that we are useless, entitled, and ungrateful. Sometimes I think to myself that they might be right. I scroll through Facebook, Twitter, etc… I become disheartened at some of the things that people post and write.

We are generation that soley focuses on the power of technology, yet, most of the time we do not use it for good. Social media is a great way to spread words of advice and love. At this point in time we have so many connections not only locally, but globally yet we do not take advantage of its good uses. Instead, we argue about petty things and look for things to post for a “Relationship Goal” or for more likes on a status. Our generation is great for stating their opinions but that is about as far as it goes. We rarely take action. But we are so powerful and we have so much influence. This is why we should contribute more to our society today.

We have become disrespectful and entitled. Everyone wants to be successful so much to the point where we will step on who we need to to get there, and won’t look back. We take our pride in how much money we make and how much we have. What about things that used to be appreciated like good health? Maybe even having a job at all? Nothing is ever enough anymore. We just want to slide by and have money so that we can do whatever the hell we want.

Well I would like to tell you that way of life is going to get all of us no where. We have been taught since day one how to work as a team and work together but we are all too focused on ourselves to see the bigger picture. Can’t you all see we are ruining not only our future, but the future for the generations to come?

We need to learn that success is a result of hard work and is not measured by your bank account. Love is more than having matching BMWs, and its about who you want to share your life with. We need to learn that we have one Earth that we should value and take care of. We need to learn to respect our elders and listen to their wisdom. We need to care for other countries in poverty because we could provide much help for them. We need to respect one another and help because we want to and not because we have to.

We have so much knowledge and influence in this world, we should use it for the best because we could make such a positive impact.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
