Coming into college, you are 18 and excited to experience a WHOLE NEW WORLD with college parties, living in a new town with new people and just having freedom. At this time in life, you are living in the moment and not really thinking ahead. You are still young and immature in everyone's eyes.
Going into your sophomore year of college, you feel older even though only a year has passed. Everyone seems to look at you as if you're a lot older. Hey, you're even starting to get treated as an adult. You feel as if you are too old for frat parties, but you are still too young to go to the bars. Being a 20-year-old in college is hard.
There is nothing significant about your 20th birthday, and there is really no point in having a party because you won't be celebrating anything new. It's not like you are turning 18. It isn't the first time you can buy tobacco products, lottery tickets or go to see an R-rated movie.
20 really is so close to 21... yet still so far. Let's remember, you are TOO YOUNG to go to the bars but also TOO OLD to party with Thad from Chi Apple Sigma. Your older friends are already able to go out to the bars, while you have to stay in with your underage fetus friends. This is the age where you have to start acting like an adult, but you aren't quite there yet.
You are expected to know what you want to do and have your whole life planned out, yet you aren't old enough to rent a car or hotel rooms.
Your 20th birthday is the most irrelevant age and everyone wishes they could just SKIP RIGHT TO 21!
