The 10 Types Of Roommates

Roommates. You can't live with them, but you can't afford rent without them. And as somebody who has ten of them, I promise you this. Roommates are a handful. They're constantly doing things that annoy you and make you question your own sanity. But as many times as you question moving out, you don't. Because at the end of the day, your roommates are your family. They're the people who are there for you at all hours of the day, through your good days and your bad days. So here's to roommates everywhere; the loud ones, the funny ones, and the ones who are everything in one ♡

1. The loud one.

They could be in your bedroom or all the way down in the basement, and either way you can hear their conversations perfectly. It's impossible to have a private conversation, and even more impossible to sleep once their awake. Whether they're talking, laughing, or stomping, you always know when they're around.

2. The one who's always busy.

This is the roommate who's perpetually going somewhere or doing something. She's taking more credits this semester than you will be all year in addition to her two jobs and volunteering. You only see them at odd hour of the day for minutes at a time.

3. The one who is never home.

You see her about as much as the busy roommate, but you can't explain it. She doesn't have as much going on, yet you still never see her. and when she is home, you don't even know she's there. They're not around to start drama or stir the pot, but just to have a place to live and go home to at the end of the night. in the end, she's the perfect roommate: quiet, clean, and pays her rent on time.

4. The one who's always home.

Opposite of the roommate who's never around, this one is always there. They're there when you wake up, after class, when you get home from work, and basically any other time of day. You constantly question what they are doing with their life, and how they manage to pass all their classes from the comfort of the living room couch. but at the end of the day, its nice to know there will always be somebody there when you get home.

5. The honest one.

if you're ever in need of an honest (a truly honest) opinion, this is the roommate you always go to. They will tell you the truth, whether you are ready to hear it or not. Trying to decide between two outfits? Ask them. Need help revising your term paper? They will tear it apart for you. From Instagram captions to boys to school and everything in between, you can always count on this roommate to tell you how it is.

6. The one you tell your secrets too.

She knows more than all your roommates combined, and it's kind of terrifying. They have the the best advice, and know how to pick you up after a long, hard day. You confide everything in them, and sometimes, without them even saying anything, they make everything okay. You better keep this roommate on your good side, because otherwise, they could do a lot of damage.

7. The funny one.

Whether they are trying or not, this roommate always keeps you laughing. They say the funniest things; sometimes it's a joke they're trying to tell, but most of the time it's just the things they say. This roommate is probably the most important, because after a long and stressful day, everyone needs something (or someone) to laugh at (or with).

8. The one who keeps you on your toes.

This is the roommate who may be the cause of your mental instability. They make some borderline questionable decisions and you never know what they are going to do next. they are consulate doing new things and going all over the place. you keep a watchful eye out for them, because you're not quite sure where their going to end up after their next adventure.

9. The one with all the clothes.

Bless the roommate who is the owner of your second closet. Need shoes to match your new top? Second closet. Looking for a different jacket to wear? Second closet. All your needs can be met by going to the roommate who has the cutest clothes and is also the same size as you.

10. The messy one.

If you're not sure which roommate this is, it's probably you. They leave their stuff everywhere. Clothes, shoes, blankets, crafts, leftovers, the list goes on. It's fine when its just in their room, but as soon as the mess travels to the common space, you're done. as a PSA to roommates everywhere: Please clean up your mess.

While you may be able to fit your roommate(s) into one of these categories perfectly, chances are they fit into more than one of them, and thats exactly why we love them.

April Ludgate

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
