1. Losing Your Mind On Day 1

Immersing yourself into a new work place with different people and personalities can be extremely difficult, especially on day one. It's easy to slip into immediate stress and become instantly overwhelmed due to the amount of new information and pressure that this position could bring you. But, despite it all you do your best to keep a positive attitude and look at the big picture of how amazing your future could be due to this experience.

2. Realizing That You're Starting From The Bottom

When experiencing your new internship it's super exciting and new, but you also quickly realize that you are in fact starting from the bottom. You may find yourself picking up coffee for your boss or cleaning the floor a little in between doing work tasks, but the good thing is that the only way you can go is up!

3. Calling Your Mom At The End Of The Day

No matter how old you are or where you're living in the world, it's always a priority to call your mom and rant about how crazy the day was. Everyone calls someone and no matter who that person is they always know who your co-workers are, how much work you're doing and what time you start as well as get off everyday.

4. Remaining Positive Despite The Stress and Lack of Sleep

Internships can be extremely tiring and if you're not getting enough sleep it can often take a toll on your attitude and behavior. But, at the end of the day you have to keep it together in order to do the best work that you can and make a good impression on those around you.

5. Keeping Up With The Drama At Work

One of the perks of being an intern is being in the middle of everything and seeing it all! You'll end up being with the people for hours upon hours and hearing their life stories and sharing your own. It's interesting to see how those relationships evolve from start to finish of your time as an intern!

6. Missing A Day and Being Completely Behind

A fact of being an intern is constantly knowing what is going on around you as well as keeping up with the intense work load. Missing a day can completely confuse you and put you behind in the work that you're doing for that week which is always a struggle.

7. Trying To Break The Ice With Your Co-Workers

Making friends could be easy at work but breaking the ice is something that always seems to be a challenge. It's always when you're initially meeting your co-workers that it gets awkward, but over a short period of time the ice is broken and ties are made!

8. Realizing That You Have To Learn How To Use Tons of New Programs

At the start of any job or internship there are always so many things to learn as far as programs and different ways of using them. It's always interesting so see how easy or difficult it could be to understand the new things that your co-workers throw at you.

9. Making Silly Mistakes

Everyone could definitely relate to this struggle on a personal level, making mistakes is such a common aspect of an internship that we all understand. Whether it's your first day on the job or your last week, mistakes are always made, it's just how you solve them that matters.

10. Saying Goodbye

Yes internships are extremely stressful and crazy, but saying goodbye to your co-workers and the amazing opportunities given to you by your boss is definitely hard. It's always important to thank those that helped you get to where you are today and those internships and jobs that get your foot in the door will forever change the course of your future.

So yes, being an intern is hard and overwhelming but the experience in itself is so rewarding and an opportunity that only some are given. Be sure to make the most out of your own internship and enjoy the little things and laugh about the small mistakes that make you a better person!
