There have been many Broadway musicals this year. Some have closed too soon, and many have prospered. Each are special in their own way, and the performers in all of them are amazing. These ten are only a sample of the talent shown on the stage this year.
#10: "Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812"
Based on War and Peace, this show is very creative and memorable, starring Josh Groban as the lead. This show closed way too soon.
#9: "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
Lead by Broadway King Christian Borle, Charlie lights up the stage with the story of pure imagination we all know and love. The show will be closing this January, which is a real shame.
#8: "Waitress"
This show revolves around the ups and downs of three pie-making ladies. Jason Mraz recently joined the cast, and Sara Bareilles is coming back.
#7: "Hamilton"
There was no way I was not going to include this show. It's a cultural phenomenon, and has a huge fan following.
#6: "Anastasia"
This show is my newest obsession. Based off the story of the royal Romanov's and the animated movie, this show is going strong on Broadway. I really want to see it.
#5: "Spongebob Squarepants"
Just show just opened on Broadway just this month, and already has a major fan following. I was listening to the soundtrack, and it's really good. The concept might seem stupid, but definitely, give it a chance!
#4: "Bandstand"
This show about World War II veterans really closed too soon. It was absolutely amazing, with mind-blowing choreography, and amazing acting. I wish I could see this show again.
#3: "Come From Away"
This show just always makes me smile. The act of courage these people presented when 9/11 happened is super extraordinary. I also really want to see this show.
#2: "Dear Evan Hansen"
Speechless. This show makes me cry so hard. Dear Evan Hansen is the light in the darkness, and is so, so special.
#1: "Once on this Island"
I saw this show recently (check out my review!), and was blown away. This revival was just spectacular, and encompassed all my hopes of the show.
