Consistency gives us all a sense of comfort. Having a set schedule, an established routine, and a list of daily activities that are to be completed gives us all a sense of reassurance. When we live life in this uniform manner, it ensures us that our lives are safe, in tact, and in order.
But life, as I have come to learn, is not this constant entity. Life will not always be order, or in tact at all. As much as you like to think that you are happy, enjoying life, and participating in healthy and fun relationships, the reality is that most of those things slowly but surely fade away.
The worst part of it all is that you cannot do anything about it. Friendships fade away. People find new people to spend their time with. Jobs will come and go. School will start and end. Families will move from place to place. All of these things are in a constant state of transition. So how can we ever feel fully comfortable with where we are?
Well, sometimes you just have to take the risk. Sometimes, you have to go right into it and expect the unexpected. Be ready to meet new people every day, as well as lose them just as quickly. Be ready to go into a school where you will graduate just as quickly as you enrolled. Be ready to lose trust and respect for people just as easily as you gained it. All of these things transition so rapidly, and you can never be comfortable.
So become comfortable in the randomness and rapid pace of life. Life doesn't slow down for anyone. Sometimes, you just have to buckle your seat belt, hold on, and wait for the ride to begin. As the ride goes on, open your windows, stick your head out, and take on the adventure that awaits. It's time to stop worrying about everything, and just live the life you were meant to live. Sure, things won't always go your way, but they aren't supposed to.
So many people find dissatisfaction in the fact that life can treat them so poorly. But in the same way that life can do this to you, it can also do great things. All throughout your life, you will be offered so many wonderful opportunities because of the risks you took, the people you met, and the sacrifices you made.
So yes, the temporariness and the unknown aspect of life is scary. But as much as it is scary, it is also exhilarating as f***. Take on life with open arms because you never know where it might take you.
