The Syrian Crisis: Where Has The World's Moral Compass Gone?

Five years too late.

The Syrian Crisis: Where Has The World's Moral Compass Gone?

This is a message to Assad, Russia, the Obama Administration, the UN, the other prosperous countries of Europe, the media and the rest of the world.

I truly ask at this point in time, where has your moral compass gone?

My father begged this question to his Facebook feed and I want to beg it to the list above. Where has anyone's sense of humanity, brotherhood, and solidarity gone?

The media and the world have waited 5 years too late to cover the madness in Syria. It took FIVE years for people to realize the extent to which this genocide has become. Have we learned NOTHING from our world history? The Holocaust? The Armenian genocide? The Rwandan genocide? The media, arguably THE most powerful domain in the 21st century, has failed humanity by not calling more attention sooner to this crisis. Citizens of the world have failed humanity by not believing or ignoring this issue all together until the situation became past the point of salvation. Citizens of the world have called this innocent civilians terrorists for the past 5 years, scared of them to enter the country until now, when they see those "terrorist" children dead on the street, crying in front of their dead parents or trapped under rubble. This prompts another question I ask people: What if this were you? Would you want people ignoring you, calling you a terrorist, putting financial stinginess over your survival?

The Obama Administration has failed in representing what this country, the policeman of the world, has been striving to live out since World War II. Not only did we fail on helping the lucky souls who escaped as refugees by only accepting a minuscule amount into the persecuted-refugee based country, but also failed in intervening in the early stages of this atrocity when it was possible to stop it with minimal casualties on both ends. The UN has failed in banding together against Russia and Assad. They have failed in using their resources to promote world peace and cooperation, the basis of the organization itself. These two powers have both failed to enact what they so eloquently and politically correctly say to the world time and time again. France, the UK, Switzerland, etc. are at fault as well. Every abled country could have done more, but a little too late now.

As for Russia and Assad--I hope the world finally sees what monsters you are. I hope there is a God that is watching and I hope that God brings justice for every life you have stripped.

My father always tells me to keep believing that this will end one day. He tells me to keep believing that there is some sort of humanity left in this world. I've held on to hope for 5 years for someone to save these people. To give the chance to redeem humanity for all we have done wrong in our time here on Earth. My hope erodes every day but I will keep fighting for the Syrians. I will keep fighting because they keep fighting.

Consider the priorities in life. Consider if money, pride, ego are more important than a human life. A living, breathing human. Someone that could be your mother, father, brother, sister, cousin, best friend, teacher.

Maybe this bloodshed will be a wake up call to the world because I hope, I pray that I never see this level of human apathy again.

Wake up world, it's time to end this--we've waited long enough.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
