I started my life tiny, in a part of my mother rooted in a crack on the earth.
Thin, little and brown with a cloud of white hair on my head
I hugged my mother close one last time until I was ready.
I flew away from my mother on a white fluffy cloud.
I flew high and far to green fields far from what I knew.
When I finally landed I found my home on a patch of green green grass all my own.
I lost my cloud and planted my roots.
I slowly began to extend my stalk into the sky like my mother before me.
In time I grew buds of my own.
At the height of my beauty my flowers opened, shining a yellow almost as bright as the sun.
My siblings shown that same yellow around me and we turned that green grass into a bright sea of yellow.
But just as my mother before me,I closed my buds, my hair turned white, I huged my children for one last time before releasing them to the spring of this world
Our field now bare awaiting the day we bloom again.
