The Summer On Camp Staff that changed my life.

People often ask, “What are your summer plans?" I got asked that question a lot before finally deciding what I wanted to do for this summer. I decided I wanted to take a chance, try something new.

I was scared. I was nervous. But I applied. I interviewed. I got in. I was packing and saying goodbyes for the summer. I was ready, on the outside, but on the inside I was a nervous wreck.

We were invited down on Sunday, May 19th, or Monday, May 20th. I decided to head down to Aldersgate Camp and Retreat Center on May 19th. I arrived, I said goodbyes to my Mom, Sister. I walked into a cottage full of smiling faces, people welcoming me with open arms. We were all facing to work together for the next 10 weeks!

Most of the staff that had applied this summer, didn't know each other, some did. Some made new friends, some got to be reunited with past co workers. I was so excited to begin my adventure on staff with a great group of people. Fast forward to 11pm at night On that Sunday night, I was about to fall asleep, I cried a tear or two. I missed home, but then I realized I was home. God had me here at camp for a reason.

We had two weeks as a staff to grow together and get to know each other, create memories as a staff before campers arrived. It was a blast, I'm thankful I got to be apart of it. We then arrived to the day we welcomed campers. I was nervous. I was scared. I was blessed enough to have Mini-Camp.

I worked alongside a sweet, beautiful friend, Whitley. We loved these kids together and taught them all about God, his love for them. We shared about them, what camp means to us, they shared with us about what camp means to them.

I look back on this great adventure I got to have, I can only thank God for letting it happen. He spoke these three words to me saying “Go for it", I did. I always have loved Camp, it has always been a place that has changed my life, I'm forever thankful for the staff I got to share Summer 2019 with.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
