Yes, it was a typical college house. At first glance many would think it should be condemned and was probably about 100 years old. The carpets were absolutely disgusting. The appliances were old and useless. The paint was very old which caused chipping all throughout the inside and outside of the house. But despite all of the issues the house entailed, all five of us made the best of it. We may not have all gotten along all of the time, but hey, we’re only human and it’s only normal for five girls in one house to fight sometimes.
I remember the day we moved in. We were all so excited! We all moved our belongings in and began to set up our house for the amazing year to come. With the members of the house all being from my sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, we used our crafting and interior design skills to decorate our house and make it our own little home. We had canvases that we painted throughout the house, frames with our monograms hung on the wall, and a couple of collage photo frames in the living room. Although the house had its imperfections, we all still secretly loved it.
Our house was in a great location. We were conveniently located a couple of houses away from the Dairy Mart and about a minute walk away from our Sorority house. Going to class was a breeze and going downtown was just as easy. Oh, and if that were not enough, we were conveniently located right around the corner from the infamous, “Frat Row”.
Whether it was for the big pre game on a Friday night or just a typical Tuesday night watching marathons of Pretty Little Liars, our house was always filled with people. It was the “go to” house for all of our friends, which made coming home after a long day, fun. That’s something I loved about it.
Unfortunately, we are all going our separate ways with different leases for the upcoming year (besides the Jordan’s, of course), but I will never forget the memories these girls and this house gave me. Love you forever, 700 Willey Street. I hope you bring the next residents as much joy as you did for us!
